The BBC Trolling for Drudge Links?

The BBC should know better. They posted an article on Friday written by their “climate correspondent.” It’s based around a global warming myth that has been repeatedly debunked. Here’s how ridiculous it is: Drudge linked to it above his logo along with the news that the Rockies baseball game was snowed out.

Two things here.

First, the BBC article uses the flagrantly disingenuous argument that global warming ended in 1998 — the “warmest year on record.” Real climate scientists agree that it was the second warmest only because of El Nino activity. Besides, climate trends are measured in terms of decades and the current warming trend exceeds anything in recorded history.

Second, Drudge is using one of the typical “fool the idiots” tricks often rolled out by modern Republicans. When it comes to the climate crisis, Republicans like to cherrypick cold temperatures in one part of the United States and use that weather report in place of GLOBAL temperatures, which is how warming is measured. That is, unless the “globe” is, you know, Denver.

I’m constantly amazed at the right’s ability to deliberately deceive its own people.

I’m not. I live among them.

The term ‘global warming’ is not entirely accurate. While some areas will experience higher temperatures others may not. What is almost certain is that great change in global weather patterns is happening. Therefore the term ‘climate change’ is more appropriate.

They are easily deceived because the want to believe they are being lied to by Teh Science in a giant anti-religious conspiracy. If someone in an authoritative position tells them they are right, that’s all they need. I mean, shit, it’s even gotten to the point of editing the Bible to fit their agenda. How backwards is that?!

Bob, one of the local weathermen here in Harrisburg wrote an article pulling that “global warming ended in 1998″ lie. Never underestimate the right’s ability to spread nonsense. It’s not that they’re fooling anyone, it’s just that the people they’re preaching to have already bought into the idea that global climate change is just a socialist hoax. These are also people who tend to believe the Earth is only six thousand years old.People just need to open their eyes. I’ve lived in Pennsylvania my entire life. When I was a kid, by mid-October, nearly all the leaves had changed color. Today, most of the leaves are still green. Things are changing in this world, no matter what local variations in temperature you may be experiencing.
