Doof Quote of the Day

“Given that reality, the urgent necessity is to make a decision—whether or not it is right.” —David Broder on the president’s Afghanistan process

So, um, wwwwwwhy?

How about the Washington corporate press stop hectoring and let the president make the right decision about, you know, war.

Never heard of this guy. Read his entire piece. Don’t like him. Nope. Not one little bit.”Urgent necessity”. How the hell did he come up with that particular qualification?

I don’t know what is up with David Broder. When he was on Washington Week regularly, he seemed like a thoughtful guy. Lately, the stuff coming out of his mouth – I haven’t been reading his writing – has been getting strenuously crazy.

They didn’t see this urgency over the last 8 years but, now it’s imperative that the president make a decision even if it’s wrong? This idiot and the rest of the Beltway bozos are so full of shit! Whatever decision the president makes will be roundly criticized by all of these dicks. Never let reality get in the way of their conventional wisdom. Perhaps they should have been this concerned when Bush was in charge. They might have kept him focused on Afghanistan.

Wonder what Broder would say if the White House makes “the decision” to continue deliberating what the strategy should be? I mean, it’s “a decision,” right? And one that he would no doubt see as the wrong one, but he’s set the standard at “a decision–whether or not it is right.”So pretty much what he said was “they’re already doing what I think they should do, but I’m going to take issue with it no matter what.”

one of the dumbest comments one could ever make about war

I have friends in the military and when I brought up Afghanistan last night they were glad that the decision is not being made lightly.

Oh, come on, it’s Broder. The Rs are trying to force the president to make a decision now now now, so in the spirit of bipartisanship, Broder joins in the chorus. The man should have retired years ago.

    Broder said:

It is evident from the length of this deliberative process and from the flood of leaks that have emerged from Kabul and Washington that the perfect course of action does not exist. Given that reality, the urgent necessity is to make a decision — whether or not it is right.

Yeah, it’s so urgent to make a decision RIGHT AWAY about whether to send more troops…in April.
