Thanks to the So-Called Fiscal Hawks

Yet another strong argument in favor of a Medicare-plus-5 or Medicare for all healthcare bill.

The House-approved healthcare overhaul would raise the costs of healthcare by $289 billion over the next 10 years, according to an analysis by the chief actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Of course this is significantly less than costs without reform, but apparently the Blue Dogs and conservadems don’t mind costs continuing to go up. Add that to their opposition to more robust deficit reduction and their “fiscal hawk” status completely falls apart. I’m looking at you Lieberman.

It will surely be used by the dogs and conservadems as a reason to kill the PO. It doesn’t have to make sense, they will still use it.

The hypocrisy of right-wingnuts goes way, way back….Here’s a little example from the Reagan years that is still affecting us today. A little background, I have my master’s degree in Criminal Justice and I worked in the field as a probation officer back in the early 90′s.Okay, here’s my rant….Besides Deficits, what’s one of the things the right has been complaining about for decades? That liberals are not tough enough on crime. What happens when you combine “fiscal conservatism” with “get tough on crime” attitudes? You get 1) States enacting get tough laws (like 3 strikes, etc). 2) Govenors (like Reagan) defunding and de-institutionalizing things like homes for the mentally ill, prisons, etc. What happens next? Well, the prisons get overrun by three time convicted minor drug offenders (whom treatment could actually help) while sex offenders are given probation (whom treatment NEVER works for). Add to that, there’s no place for the mentally ill to go, so they end up on the street, and inevitably go to jail or prison. Where they receive little or no treatment for their mental illness. And this is the merry-go-round of the criminal justice system today. But the fiscal conservatives have the nerve to bitch about how prisons don’t work–Of course they don’t you jerks. They’re overcrowded. You’re not funding them properly and the funding doesn’t go to the right kind of programs! Ya know the ones that research has shown time and time again, the ones that actually reform and rehabilitate? They bitch about how offenders are let go into the community–Of coure they are you douches, there’s no room in the prisons! Tommy who smokes too much pot is at San Quentin and Johnny who likes molesting little kids is living next door to me burying bodies in the backyard (that his PO hasn’t bothered to inspect during the entire period of supervision). And the fiscal conservatives bitch about the homeless who sully their neighborhoods and their tax dollars go to pay for their entitlements–Of course you nimrods, the mentally have nowhere else to go! And the poor are the not the only ones receiving entitlements (Ron Paul gets Medicare). And if you did the research on who goes to prison based on their economic status? The poor, who will only get poorer once they get out and can’t find a job or once they’ve had to pay probation fees.BBut, it’s all the liberals’ fault, right? Even though we’ve been saying you can’t cut funding and throw everyone in prison at the same time…..you can’t cut entitlements and institutional funding and then bitch about how the poor are suddenly all over your neighborhoods….You can’t make poor people, poorer and the rich, richer and then bitch about how the poor are getting in the way of your “American Dream”.
