I am curious…when Joe Wilson yelled You Lie, massive amounts of money were raised for his opponent in hours. I just wonder why this is not happening in this case. I wish Move on etc would run massive campaigns against Lieberman, Nelson, Baucus etc…Isn’t that a way to show disappointment with health care reform instead of calling Obama a sellout? ANd promising to not vote Maybe I am naive and this really amounts to nothing but i would love to see money go behind more progressive candidates or perhaps more comedians like Franken!

Nelson still lives in the 20th century.

    20th century B.C.(…yabba-dabba-dooooo!!!!!)

  • brutlyhonest

At least he didn’t say 15th century. Which is where he wants women to live ….

LK, that might make us feel good, but as much as Nelson sucks, in a state like Nebraska, it would only lead to electing a republican or him running as an independent. The Lamont-LIEberman experiment made us feel good for awhile but it’s kind of backfired.I think our energy is best spent on winnable red seats, like Missouri, Ohio, and New Hampshire, and defending seats in Delaware, Colorado and Illinois. If we can add seats in the senate, which is possible, Nelson and LIEberman would become marginalized, although then Lincoln and Landrieu would gain more power.

@eljefejeff: That is exactly what we need to do.

  • LK

That makes sense eljefejeff. Thanks for your insight. I may start researching candidates in those states as I am snowed in :)

LK, if you’re that bored, check out Nate Silver’s take. He hasn’t updated it in awhile but he ranks the most vulnerable seats.http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/10/senate-rankings-october-2009-quick-and.htmlhttp://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/09/senate-rankings-september-2009.html

That was almost a bold proclamation. For a Senator who’s major health care reform priority is instituting forced pregnancy, as a representative of a state that you can’t drive through fast enough, you don’t make a statement like that prior to your big on-the-record moment without considering the magnitude in making such a statement in this political climate. What a douche. These are the dipshits we’re forced into courting and appeasing?!It’s amazing we’ve lasted as long as we have.

  • Steve B

LK(and everyone else), you should know that over the last few days moveon has already surpassed the $1 million mark in their ‘defeat Lieberman’ campaign.

  • ceu

Do we know what we caved on for Nelson?

  • ceu

Nevermind – I see that we do

What an overbearing self-centered asshole. He pretty much took sole credit for creating a health care reform bill that will “stand the test of time.” As if the whole thing had to wait for him to step up and fix it.What an asshole. I’m declaring here and now that I will contribute to his Republican opponent when he’s up for re-election. I will happily give money to a homophobic, abortion-hating, bible-thumping, teabagging neanderthal if that’s what it takes to get him the hell out of there.
