‘Get it done?’

Ryan Grim reports that Rahm Emanuel personally visited Reid’s office and urged him to cut a deal with Lieberman. “Get it done,” he reportedly said.

If accurate, Emanuel is wasting his time. Cut a deal on this and Lieberman will find something else to filibuster, and so on and so on until the bill is dead.

Who knows. Emanuel could’ve meant “get it done” as in “kick Lieberman in the balls.”

Actually, Bob, if Rahm Emanuel did visit Reid’s office, it wasn’t to suggest kicking Lieberman in the balls. The Rahm Emanuel of yesteryear either never really existed, or has somehow been emasculated.I use to think Emanuel was a “take no prisoners, snarling doberman pinscher” kind of guy.During the president’s first year, Rahm seems to be a toy poodle instead.

I’d really like to hear from Rahm himself.I really, really want to know WTF is up.And I’d love to see the MSM dog the fuck out of ol’ Joe about what’s changed his mind in 3 months time.

Please shoot me;Rahm Emanuel visited Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in his Capitol office on Sunday evening and personally urged him to cut a deal with recalcitrant Sen. Joe Lieberman, two Democratic sources familiar with the situation said.Emanuel, President Obama’s chief of staff, has long been identified as leading a faction of White House advisers who have been pushing the Senate simply to pass any health care bill, no matter how weak. His direct message to Reid (D-Nev.), according to a source close to the negotiations: “Get it done. Just get it done….The report, however, according to the two sources, was entirely accurate. “We’re long

“Get it done. Just get it done….”Get what done? Did you see Allonfla’s post?

Rahm Emanuel represents pretty much everything I hate about politics.

CNN is reporting that both the public option & the medicare buy-in have been dropped. They’d better drop the individual mandates, too, unless they’re planning on giving HUGE subsides & tax credits.Idiots.

  • IntoxiNation

Yeah they got it done – they got rid of the buy-in now. The whole Senate bill has turned into nothing but a xmas present for the corrupt insurance agencies. Even Markos is tweeting that its time to kill the bill now.

Ezra Klein was just on KO’s show suggesting that the HCR bill is still good. How can it be good if it has the mandates and no PO or buy-in?This is just too mucking fuch.

I’m with you, Wolfe_Tone. I’m from Chicago, born and raised. I’ve been listening to Rahm stories for a long time. I was really disappointed when Obama named him as COS, but I pacified myself with that supposed fact that we would at least get a bulldog pushing Obama’s agenda — you know, kicking ass and taking names. If that’s happening in this first year, it’s sure on a level that’s above my comprehension. On the other hand, the 5th Congressional District, which was Rahm’s, has a guy sitting now that basically a seatholder. Rahm wants Speaker of the House, so maybe he really has his own agenda right now.

“Ezra Klein was just on KO’s show suggesting that the HCR bill is still good. How can it be good if it has the mandates and no PO or buy-in?”I know I’ll sound like a corporate shill but everyone should have health care and should be paying for it. Many can’t afford it. This bill would subsidize many of them and prevent many Americans from going bankrupt when they get sick. This is a milestone achievement. The preference is to have all this covered in taxes toward a single payer system. Companies would no longer provide it and wages would go up proportionately, more than offsetting the increase in taxes.Instead, we will be paying private companies. Will it create jobs or in any other way be good for our economy with so much more money pumped into the system? This is not at all what I want, I’m just looking for a silver lining. I know this also means a few of the already obscenely wealthy will further enrich themselves, but we’re in America and that’s just the way it is sometimes. Obama was supposed to change this. Well, that’s a promise broken….so far.
