Very Serious Question

I sold an “item” on eBay yesterday. It’s been 24 hours and the buyer hasn’t paid yet.

Should I be worried?

And remember when it was cool to randomly caPitalize letters in the middle of internet wOrds?

Look, I TOLD YOU when I bid on the thing, I will NOT PAY for The Complete Wit & Wisdom of Sarah Palin, Vols 1- 26, until I’m certain of the shipping charges! I’m assuming, as the collection is printed on a single 3×5 card, that you can put it in a regular envelope and mail it for $0.44.Suck it.

Also: No. Don’t sweat 24 hours. Sweat a week. Check the buyer’s rating, and see how many transactions are normal for that person. If s/he has a deep history of buying shit, or lots of bids going on at once, it’s probably just a backlog of payments pending.Send a reminder e-mail by COB tonight if there’s still no payment, but don’t be a dick.

I like it, Elvis.Nice job on the radio show last night, and such as, too.

Bob,Give me your eBay and Pay Pal user names and passwords, I’ll take care of it for you.One of the many services I provide.

I always pay the very minute that I win. I have seen, however, some sellers give buyers 5-7 days to pay or else. Maybe the buyer thinks you have allowed the same luxury?I do recall paying for a win right away and the seller contacted me a couple of days later saying they didn’t get the money. I provided proof of when it was paid, and it appeared that there was just a delay with Paypal or the bank or something.I would contact the buyer if you don’t see anything tonight.

Is it an expensive item? If no, don’t worry about it yet. Relax – some of us don’t monitor our Ebay bidding as tightly as others. Wait a few days. Email the buyer if you want. If they don’t reply within a day or so, relist and damn them to heck.If it was an expensive item, it is proper to tell the potential bidders that they have 24 hours to pay.

Question: Was that particular ‘item’ a bag o’ weed?

  • mrspeel2

If the person has a good rating I wouldn’t worry just yet. When I buy on eBay, the winning notification email usually says to pay within 3 days. If, after the 3 days, you still haven’t heard anything, re-contact them and ask for payment. If you still don’t get a response, I’d contact eBay about it.

Be worried if you’ve already shipped item.

  • Raphael Kearns

mrspeel2 is correct. The buyer has 3 days to make payment. eBay “advice” says to communicate with the buyer prior to the 4th day. After the 4th day you can ask eBay to get involved.

Don’t worry tooooo much but you should add a note to your auctions that yu expect payment through PayPal with x# of days – I usually say 48 hours. I have waited weeks for payment but I have also recieved instant payments. Don’t hesitate to send a follow up invoice/e-mail if you don’t have payment by say Thursday??? Keep up the fight Sir!

Bob, I told you not to give your banking info to the guy from Angolia who was offering you three times what you were asking for your item.

I was immediately reminded of George of the Jungle, and his book of wisdom or whatever it was, when the ape said, “Hmppf, THAT would be the shortest book ever written”.
