Jon Stewart Plays Terror Ball

This has to be one of my favorite Daily Show segments of all time. Of course it’s because they cover the “kept us safe” scorecard — the No Attacks Mythology — that I’ve been blogging and graphing about for the last couple of weeks (and which I also covered in my book).

The conversation with John Oliver is almost the exact same conversation I’ve had with a wide variety of wingnuts recently. The self-delusion and brain-melting insanity coming from the wingnut right on this issue is staggering.

That was just golden. He needs an emmy, a Golden Globe, an Oscar just for that.

Can I request a topic? Cousinavi has a Chomsky video (When Elites Fail)up right now that’s got me thinking. Particularly about how the left may have squandered the chance to recruit and organize the justifiably angry (though woefully fact impaired) underclass because of the Dems ties to the anti-democracy neoliberal agenda. I don’t know how to insert links here so here’s the url:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1Jk2kPwUj0

I made sure to catch Jon last night because, he’s off on Friday’s and I knew that, unlike everyone else, Jon would have to cover Rudy’s comments. It was hysterical. Somthing that annoyed me, was that when John Yoo was introduced, there was no booing. I know it’s a little childish. He’ll they probably turn on the applause sign when guests are introduced but, I remember wishing for at least a few hisses. I know that Stewart’s Anyway, it was still great!

The segment was almost as good as the John Yoo interview was painful. As someone unfortunate enough to be familiar with his memo and that whole area of the law, watching that interview was like a 5-finger prostate exam. Really, really excruciating to watch. I hope he ends up in prison.

I had a friend the other night say that 9/11 was Bill Clinton’s fault because he did nothing to fight terrorism for 8 years but would not agree to the same standard being applied to Bush where the underpants bomber was concerned. It’s an amazing disconnect. Bill Clinton is responsible for 9/11, Barack Obama is responsible for the underpants bomber, and George Bush is accountable for nothing. These people can’t be reasoned with. You can only agree to disagree and then go balls to the wall on efforts to keep them out of power.
