Rudy Giuliani Denies Anthrax Attacks

Apparently Rudy was on TV today suggesting that the Anthrax attacks weren’t terrorism because they weren’t Islamic in origin.

First, we don’t know for sure what the origins were. Probably domestic, but who knows. Bush’s Justice Department never caught the culprits. (Good job, Bushies.)

Second, if Rudy’s qualifications eliminate any terrorism that wasn’t Islamic, then we have an interesting breakdown on the Clinton vs. Bush attacks lists.

Assuming Rudy is describing Domestic Islamic terrorist attacks, Bush still has more attacks on his watch than Clinton.

CLINTON
World Trade Center 1993 – 6 fatalities
Total – 1 attack – 6 fatalities

BUSH
September 11 – 2,992 fatalities
Beltway Snipers – 10 fatalities
LAX shootings – 2 fatalities
Chapel Hill SUV attack – No fatalities
Total – 4 attacks – 3,004 fatalities

He still can’t say that Bush kept us safe, and he can’t say that without admitting that Clinton kept us safe for longer — nearly a full eight years without a Domestic Islamic attack.

Only Muslims can be terrorists. That’s the republican brain for you. That thinking works well in pretending Christians who bomb medical clinics or kill doctors or burn churches or other Christians are not terrorists.

Rudy is playing to the wing-nut base here, plain and simple.See, if he were to admit that white guys can be terrorists too, then he would be giving credence to the department of homeland security report warning of right-wing extremists and militias.Hes afraid of upsetting the teabaggers.

So does this mean that the IRA, Baader-Meinhof, Shining Path, the Basque Separatists, etc weren’t/aren’t terrorists? And that terrorism has no history pre-dating 9/11?

  • Janine Zimardo

Mary Matlin did it too.You forgot to list the anthrax attacks.

Rudy Giuliani is a clown…who likes to dress in drag.

The correct response to anything Rudy Giuliani says is to point and laugh. Anything else legitimizes his lunacy.

(Probably) domestic,(if) Rudy’s qualifications, (Assuming) Rudy is…good thing bob the lib is here to fill in (rant about) all the gray areas of a celebrity-ass, formerly elected, has-been politician. And I wish you would stop pretending that all your cherry picked sound bites and quotes represent the characteristics of all conservatives.moveon, quit whining about the past (your side won) How about using some of your obvious talent to help figure out how we (the American people)can get out of the current economic mess we are in?I am not happy with either party right now and I don’t believe the attitude on the web and especially on the cable news stations is helping this country one bit. The internet and cable news add a whole new dimension to this game of finger pointing and name calling.I believe that Small Town USA and Middle America are fed up with most of this political posturing and bull crap. I fear if you and others like you (both sides)continue to incite anger and outrage, there is bound to be some ugly consequences. Some t-r-o-l-l-s hit sites such as yours to see what the other side is doing (although you seem to have one that likes to poke fun at you). I do it mostly for the entertainment value, but I have noticed that the ugliness on both sides seems to be ramping up.WHENEVER YOU FIND YOU ARE ON THE SIDE OF THE MAJORITY, IT IS TIME TO PAUSE AND REFLECT….Mark Twain

The bottom line is that Republicans lie ………. a lot! What sucks is the fact that they’re so seldom called out on their out & out lies! And the Republican voter base will stand by the GOP no matter what! And never trust a so-called independent, WTF you can’t figure out which side of the fence to shit on?Never forget that Bush was elected to a second term after 9/11!

Whenever you corner a wingnut on the facts, they change the debate. Weak.

There was no debate in your post, you were just ranting…again…. very weak

I got this from Andy Borowitz on Twitter:Rudy Giuliani: “I never had attacks of amnesia under Bush. I’ve had one under Obama.”

ceu:”So does this mean that the IRA, Baader-Meinhof, Shining Path, the Basque Separatists, etc weren’t/aren’t terrorists? And that terrorism has no history pre-dating 9/11?”Wingnut response: “WHY ARE YOU DIGGING UP THE PAST??!!”

Is/was Bill Ayres Muslim? So no pallin around with terrorists after all?

  • keithalso

Rudy also forgets that Bush was warned about OBL on multiple occasions. “Osama Bin Laden determined to attack” was the exact warning and Bush pointedly ignored it. Yeah Bush kept us safe… A-hole

You ask why, NC. Because history matters. Our here & now is built on our yesterdays and not responding to obvious misstatements of fact allows them to grow and nothing is learned.Every conservative who actually cares about his/her country should have called Giuliani on this. Dana Perrino said it back in Nov & most people let it go unremarked. Mary Matalin said much the same thing. I expect that the Sunday talking heads will have their own twists on it in an attempt to make Giuliani’s statement true.I can easily envision 40 years hence, people believing that Bush was a great president & the Democratic Party was in charge when this country totally fucked up. I’ve seen it done with events I’ve lived thru – that Vietnam was a right & just war that we could have won if it weren’t for the Democrats; that the peace movement of the ’60′s was comprised of the uneducated, unwashed baby boomers; that Reagan was great & he fixed the economy, etc – unemployment rate at 10.8% not withstanding; that Carter was the worst president ever. None of those things are remotely true, yet they have been repeated so often that they are taken as fact.Giuliani lied. To let it go unremarked would be highly irresponsible. To complain about or mock someone who is remarking on it is ignorant and foolish.

The fact remains that the anthrax attacks were terrorism. Plain and simple. Entertaining this nonsense about separating acts of terrorism by religion is ridiculous.

Wow, I said in the post directly bellow this one that wingnuts dont consider it terrorism unless it is from an Islamic country and here is mayor 911 to prove it.Seriously I dont think these people really know what terrorism is, they must think that it is an ideology like fascism instead of what it really is, a tactic. That’s why they think you can go to war against it and win
