Morning Joe and Obama Follow-Through

Today on Morning Joe, there was an extended conversation about how President Obama “can give great speeches, but he can’t follow through.”

This is a ridiculous myth.

The president, in fact, has the best legislative record in a first year since FDR, according to CQ.

A couple of notes here. Yes, he has large majorities in Congress. But filibusters have reached an all time high — no modern president has seen his legislative agenda obstructed like this one. Meanwhile, I do believe that the president hasn’t done enough to brag about these accomplishments. I keep going back to this, but here it is again: If the largest middle class tax cut in history is passed, and no one brags about it, does it make a sound?

For Joe and his fellow automatons to recognize this state of affairs, it would require doing something other than listening to each other construct alternate realities from whole cloth. I think that may be asking a bit much of their ilk.

Scarborough is really an idiot. He actually said Aaron Schock had a good point yesterday when he asked Rachel, “are you going to give back your tax cut” in response to her asking why he and other Republicans voted against the stimulus and Omnibus bills and then, showed up at ribbon cuttings ceremonies and cheered these same programs. Every story I saw on the blogs about this yesterday were all celebrating Rachel and laughing at Schock’s response. Talk about an alternative reality.
