No More Budget Shenanigans

John Cole raised an excellent point. The new Obama administration budget is only $100 billion more than Bush’s final budget.

You might be thinking, Okay? And…?

Unlike Bush, the Obama budget includes Iraq and Afghanistan war funding. Bush kept the wars off the budget.

Every Democrat in Congress, say nothing of the White House itself, ought to be screaming this through gigantic bullhorns right now. They ought to be on every cable news show bragging about this to anyone who will give them a few seconds in front of the fake library background. And if they’re not — why the hell not?

It’s called honesty in accounting.I read today over at Laffy and Paddy’s place that Jeb Hensarling is already back to spouting the Social Security privatization shit along with a reduction in benefits for those under 55!These are the same jerks that came up with “death panels”. Now the true colors show! They want to steal the trust fund! And when I think about all the gray haired folks at those tea party events I just want to puke. I live amongst these assholes!

Look at this headline:Obama’s budget sidesteps dramatic health reformsThen read what it says:http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100201/pl_nm/us_obama_budget_healthcareWell fucking duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The POTUS is restricted by law! He can’t write a budget based on what he hopes will pass! We’re doomed for a number of reasons and shitty media coverage of the facts is at the top of the list!

AARHH!! The fact that the White House and Democrats aren’t screaming this point from the rooftops infuriates me!! This is a GREAT point and people need to understand it. I have personally gone to every conservative friend I have on FB and found their negative post on the budget (I knew it would be there) and added this comment.

The next GOP meme will be that the GOP Congress (elected in 1994 with their Contract on America) was responsible for the budget surpluses & paying down the national debt during Clinton. Do not let them get away with it! As Crooks & Liars points out today (Tues 2/2) those happened because of the 1993 budget reduction acts passed by a Democratic Congress with not a single GOP vote.http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/republicans-claim-credit-for-clinton-surpluses
