Obama vs. Boehner! Fight!

Greg Sargent reports:

At the private White House meeting today between Obama and Congressional leaders, the President and John Boehner got into a testy exchange, aides say, with Obama charging that the GOP is just out to kill all his initiatives.

RRROOOOOOWWR! Go, Mr. President.

This only proves that Obama is ready to compromise further in the name of bipartisanship./sarcasm//wouldn’t be if I were a firebagger

  • Irish Girl

Oh, what I wouldn’t give to be a birdy on someone’s shoulder during that meeting….

  • Ref

What I wouldn’t give to have been at that meeting, yelling “YOU FINALLY FIGURED THAT OUT????”

  • MattMcD

There needs to be TV cameras in every meeting he holds with Republicans.

  • Scout

I wonder what gave Barry his first clue? They’ve only gone on the friggin’ teevee, fer fuxake, admitting they’re going to block everything as part of their political strategy. Nobody can ever accuse Republicans of being interested in actual governance.

DING DING!!!!!!! SCHOOLS IN BITCH!!! HAHA!!!! I saw that American President intro the President made. HA!!! GET EM RAC!!!!

  • roxsteady

This performance is strictly for the 68% of the idiots in a poll who say they want Republicans and Dems to work together. That’s because these people don’t understand what that would mean. The President will be able to show the American public how the GOP lacks ideas. They think they have ideas but, the country will see just how shitty they are. It’s be a side by side comparison.

  • alopecia

It’s good to see the White House finally (finally) stand up to The Human Carrot. Pity it’s taken this long.

  • roxsteady

Exactly Alopecia! I do think that people may forget that the Dems themselves are just as much to blame. The fact that they themselves allowed the GOP to stall their bill, pretend that some of them like Grassley, Enzi and who ever the other piece of GOP gargabe was, were working with the Dems only to get burned for no votes for their troubles. Reid and Baucus share just as much, if not more of the blame than the President. They were at the table for the negotiations and just took the bait. They also allowed the scum that is conservadems to do some behind the scenes crapping on the bill with their junk.

Rox,”crapping on the bill with their junk.”You have a beautiful way with words. I think I love you.

  • Irish Girl

Rox, your statements always provide wonderful visuals ;0

  • alopecia

rox, I agree to a point. However, the Ds had to make a good-faith effort to reach out to the Rs or they’d have been pilloried by every David Broder wannabe (not that they haven’t been, anyway, but they *could have* pushed back). Baucus was simply the wrong person to make that effort. And I’ll second PPP: “crapping on the bill with their junk” is inspired.

It’s stuff like this and Obama’s schooling of the GOP at their own meeting last week that make me wish our government had something similar to England’s “Questions to the Prime Minister.”Can you imagine the weekly ass-kicking that Obama would deliver in that type of format? Or our politicians actually engaging with each other in meaningful debate (instead of delivering speeches written by their aids to an empty chamber, and funneling bullshit talking points through the cable news outlets)? Not that anybody in this country would actually tune in.

  • kansasdem

MSM tomorrow AM:”Obama rejects compromise!”Anyone care to bet?????????????????

  • keithalso

“…the GOP is just out to kill all his initiatives.” I would file this under “No shit Sherlock” when did you figure this one out? Please Mr. President, be that guy I voted for. • Allonfla

“when did you figure that out?” – ????What? some of you actually think you are more clued in to what happens in DC than the President? Seriously? That’s hilarious.Think about that question for a second.

  • bibimimi
