The Feckless Democrats

Greg Sargent summarizes a would-be failure to pass the healthcare reform bill:

Pass the health bill, and Dems get a thousand articles about the new law. Fail to pass it, and they get a thousand columns about how feckless they are.

This is absolutely correct. The story will be: The president said we’re about to drive over a cliff like Thelma & Louise, and yet they couldn’t get it done with 59-60 votes in the Senate and a 78 vote majority in the House.

    The Dems need to pound home all the things which the GOP wanted and ended up being included in the House HCR bill. Every time one of them whines that they were shut out of the debate, one or more of the reasons listed by Think Progress back in Oct. should be thrown in his/her face. We fail to do that. They say they were shut out, we say nothing, and pretty soon it is accepted as “fact”.

    Off Topic, wait until you guys see the meltdown this morning by Joe Scarborough over the 911 trials? I knew he’d be pissed with the beating his party took from the President on Friday and try to deflect some of the praise. He really attacked the left saying the only reason the administration is doing this is to show, in his words, “How good we are”, and that it would be a show trial to satisfy the left, ignoring the 196 trials and convictions that the previous administration conducted. He kept referring to it as a Civilian Trial, as if it woud be televised like the O.J. trial, which is bullshit. These are FEDERAL TRIALS and cameras are not allowed. You may not even see the terrorists being brought in if there’s an underground or back entrance but, that didn’t stop his spin. Worst, was that he kept saying that this terrorist said he wanted a Military Trial but, the administration mistakenly refused, as if we would allow terrorists to call the shots. It was almost comical how angry he was. I just love it when he makes an ass of himself. He became totally unhinged. I don’t know why he’s still on the air. That show is dead last in the cable morning show ratings. I purposely watched this morning because I knew he’d be looking to try and deflect from what happened Friday. Epic Fail!
