The Republican War on Science

This is beyond stupid. The utter cynicism embodied in this spot is staggering. The Republicans are taking their voters for drooling, mouth-breathing nincompoops who will be easily tricked into believing “snow storm in Virginia” equals “cold everywhere on the planet.”

To repeat, just because it’s snowing on the east coast of the United States this weekend doesn’t mean it’s snowing and cold everywhere and for all time. Just so we’re clear on that.

Republican voters — if you have even the slightest brain in your head, please realize that your party is attempting to trick you.

Adding… It’s cold in my basement. Does that mean global warming is a myth?

Wait until summer and see what they have to say. Already the dropping of Florida residents from homeowners policies by State Farm is causing a stir.

What’s especially forehead-bruising is that this storm is precisely what climate change is expected to create–more extreme weather, more unexpected conditions such as a series of blizzards in Virginia whilst New England has only a moderate amount of snow. Argh, people unclear on the concept …

*waving at my old friend Diana who should be reading this about now and who is neither drooling nor a mouth-breathing nincompoop yet stays with her party line on this Al Gore/warming/climate change stuff.*

Something tells me that conservatives believe that global warming means that water shouldn’t freeze anymore.

I live in Kansas so I’m used to hearing this BS.We’re told that our light bills will go up $30.00 per month this year just because big, bad Obama is going after the energy providers!Remember Westar:http://kansascity.bizjournals.com/kansascity/stories/2004/09/20/daily17.htmlNow the SCOTUS basically said that it’s OK for Westar to take my money and use it to campaign for asshats like Delay!

Every winter, every bleedin’ winter, the global warming deniers trot out the “it’s cold, so global warming is a hoax and Al Gore is fat” line. Get some new material, you bozos!I hate to be That Guy (you know, the one who’s forever lobbing links into a conversation), but take a look at this post at Talking Points Memo and scroll down to the comment by “tctundra” for an elegant, fact-based take-down of the deniers. I don’t know how you’d go about compressing it into a sound bite or fitting it on a bumper sticker, but it’s a thing of beauty.

They depend on appealing to these folks believing anything. That’s how we have Glenn Beck with his own TV show.

  • beautykilledbeast

You know what, all it would take is for some rich liberal to establish a toll-free number and run one thirty second TV ad over and over in the afternoon. This commercial would feature Santa Claus as he tells the children that the North Pole is at risk from global warming. They should go to the phone and call congress to demand action on climate change. Why has this not happened in the last ten years?

Ow, it hurts. Stop it, Roberto.

It doesn’t seem to want to quit fucking raining in Southern California, so there’s something going wrong with the weather. This ain’t natural. I worry that TC Boyle has got his prediction right.

  • Mather Z

The problem is that these nitwits don’t know the difference between climate and weather. It really is that simple.
