Get A Brain, Morans

John Cole points us to this Flickr account featuring a collection of oddly-spelled teabagger signs — described as “teabonics.”

This one right off the bat almost made me snarf my beverage:

Whoever is responsible for this Flickr account has single-handedly created my current all-time favorite Flickr account.

Isn’t it curious that the very people that accuse us of looking down upon them as not smart or of less than average intelligence (because we are all Ivy League Elitists Professors) are the first to call someone else stupid and unintelligent?Hmmmm….Oh wait, let me uninspell it so that they can read it–Hnnnn…

  • Peebs

Histeracul site…even though, all the YOUR instead of YOU’RE makes me crazy.

I’ll be sure to post any teabonics signs I see at Thursday’s Tea Party Ho-Down here in Omaha. I’m bringing my video camera for fun pre-rally interviews, huzzah!

It’s almost as if James Joyce or Thomas Pynchon were making those signs. One good thing though: If You Can Read These Signs You’re Not A Teabagger.

Exremism (sic) in defense of proper spelling is a vice

  • http://zirgar.blogspot.com ZIRGAR

Seriously, here’s what I want to know: if these people’s spelling skills are this hilariously horrendous, are we really expected to believe that their reading comprehension skills are any better, therefore they’ve actually read and properly understood the legislation and policies they’re opposing? Really?

  • Alan Fors

…therefore they’ve actually read and properly understood the legislation and policies they’re opposing? Really?

No one has read that bill. NO ONE! It’s too long, and was written in the dead of night. In the dark. And it’s long. But they understand it because Beck ‘splained it to them.

Monday afternoon, I heard a TPer insist that (quoting from memory): “We’re the educated ones!”Sure you are, Skippy. If your blood pressure can handle it (trust me, you will be shouting at your computer):http://www.kcrw.com/news/programs/tp“Will Tea Party Activists Derail before November?” (scroll down to Monday’s show)

  • eve

my favorite part is calling this stuff teabonicsbrilliant

  • TomatoKing

“my favorite part is calling this stuff teabonics”Eve you are a white racist pig. You imply by correlating the grammar and spelling of the Tea Party (which you and your associates have declared as being”stupid”) with Ebonics, the speech and grammar patterns of inner city African Americans, that black people are stupid. You are a RACIST!!!!

  • TomatoKing

I am watching Sean Hannity…and I swear to God , he’s doing it right now! He’s blinking the N word in Morse code….

  • staci

Jeez, TomatoKing, you must be Gumby to have stretched eve’s comment to your conclusion.Hey Alan, don’t forget to mention that the bill is long, too. hahahahahaha

  • Obamarmy

The TEABAG Movement sweeping across America has forged a new English language vernacular. A phenomenon that linguists are calling TEABONICS.

You guys all crack me up. Thank you for that.

  • http://zirgar.blogspot.com ZIRGAR

Bob, for all the good you do here, making you crack up is the very least any of us can do for you, my man. Thanks for the great blog!

Now for the obvious…the apostrophe and the “E” have been whited out. Nice try, guys. Is this the level you’ve sunk to?I can’t believe I’m the only one here who isn’t blind.

  • Agent Scully

Actually, it looks like the sign was written in pencil, the ‘RE was erased, and then it was darkened with marker and finally highlighted, leaving the apostrophe and letter E in pencil. It suggests that this TeaBagger looked up the spelling in his Glenn Beck issued dictionary and realized his mistake.

  • Irish Girl

@PPP, I noticed the apostrophe and E but assumed (rightly or wrongly) that the person who made the poster wrote it in pencil but then decided against that spelling when they went over it with marker. Besides, if you look at all the Flickr photos, you will see that none of the rest of the photos look doctored. So on weight of evidence….I don’t think there was any tomfoolery on our part.
