Headline of the Day

Jon Chait wins.

Jesus Christ, Mike Allen, Reconciliation Is NOT THAT COMPLICATED

It’s true. Either Mike Allen doesn’t understand what reconciliation is and how it’s been used in the past, or he’s entirely ignorant of the fact that the Senate already passed the bill with a supermajority of 60 votes and that only a “sidecar” of tweaks will be passed with a simple majority.

Chait:

Does Conrad need to stop by Politico’s offices with a picture book and some finger puppets? I understand perfectly well how intelligent people who don’t follow this debate closely might not catch on to the distinction. But this is what Mike Allen does all day — and, as I understand it, much of the night and the wee hours of the morning as well. How can anybody still not understand this? I’m at a loss here.

Mike Allen is very serious.

Mike Allen is a breathy, witless, gossip-loving “Washingtonwood” insider. He remains willfully ignorant so as not to blow his access.

  • Allonfla

he knows exactly what he’s doing – that’s the sad part.

    what Allonfla said

  • Bull Schmitt

Allen is too busy refreshing Dick Cheney’s twitter feed to do his job properly.

It would be nice if some of the Dems in Washington would get enough stones to start calling out the lies and hypocrisy of their opponents, both in office and in the media. No more of this “My distinguished colleague” crap. Just call the lie. Do it enough and maybe some of the actual liberals in the media will stop looking for “balance” and start reporting the facts.

Even the HuffPo is guilty of this:”Begich Open To Using Reconciliation To Pass Health Care Bill”That headline is misleading and makes it sound as if the overall bill will be passed with recon.
