Regarding That Teabagger Racism Thing

To wit:

Tea partiers and other anti-health care activists are known to get rowdy, but today’s protest on Capitol Hill–the day before the House is set to vote on historic health care legislation–went beyond the usual chanting and controversial signs, and veered into ugly bigotry and intimidation.

Civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and fellow Congressional Black Caucus member Andre Carson (D-IN) related a particularly jarring encounter with a large crowd of protesters screaming “kill the bill”… and punctuating their chants with the word “nigger.”

Standing next to Lewis, emerging from a Democratic caucus meeting with President Obama, Carson said people in the crowd yelled, “kill the bill and then the N-word” several times, while he and Lewis were exiting the Cannon House office building.

Yeah, those tea party people sure are classy. I can’t imagine how I could have ever thought racial bigotry was a feature of such a fine, upstanding movement. Apologies!

Yes, you could just feel the love dripping from that crowd. I’m glad the Dems are moving forward. Not only is it a good start for us all but, there’s an extra added bonus of really pissing off these stupid, hillbilly fucks!

  • laddieluv

I’m actually physically sickened.Scary chit. The hatred and bigotry is palable.Cue the dueling banjos.

  • alopecia

Everyone who’s surprised by this, raise your hand.*counts*Okay, that makes exactly none of us.More seriously, I understand being upset, even angry, at the prospect that a bill one doesn’t support will pass. Been there, done that, as the kids say. What I don’t understand is expressing that displeasure by calling elected representatives “nigger” and “faggot”. When did the United States become one enormous fifth grade class?

  • eve

When did the United States become one enormous fifth grade class?

    it started with Reagan

  • eve

I’m sure whatever GOPer’s are on the talk shows tomorrow will loudly denounce the bigotry as disgraceful behavior.sarcasm over

  • mattpd

not surprised either by what they were saying and acting.Still surprised by the silence from that national media. I heard more about a kid in NJ on the PA speaker at a walmart than this type of behavior. Let’s see if it gets a mention on the sunday shows

  • MrBrink

What’s it going to take for these people to be laughed out of the political discourse?A United States congressman just denounced “Yankee aggression” on the House floor for fuck’s sake.Fox and the Republican party were working the crowds all day today, just as in days passed, and the rest of the media has been giving them the attention usually reserved for someone who just found Wonka’s fifth golden ticket. What’s it going to take?! How much right wing fanaticism can this country continue to endure? Decades have been wasted placating bigots, religious extremists, and homophobes, and CEOs. They’ve been beating America over the head with this insanity for too long. When my favorite First Lady said she was proud of her country, she was talking about the opposite of these psychos.60 million of these idiots and their lovers and followers voted for McCain/Palin– who harnessed the bolt of lightening needed to reanimate this Frankenstein(Frankensteen?) in their desperate haste to give life to a failed political party and ideology– which is now terrorizing the body of politic and diluting rational grievances with false-equivalencies and political terrorism. If the Republican party ever wrestles majority power, they’ll be supported by these leashless freaks.Without them, there really is no Republican party.

  • JackDanieL

for years I was called a moonbat, and told to readjust my tinfoil hat blahblahlbahfor years, I outspokenly said “I hope to God I am wrong, because if I’m right, this country is in trouble”thats the differenceI’d much rather be wrong than see my country sufferThey on the other hand ‘wanted their country back’ before Barack got his foot fully in the door.

  • MrBrink

The Republican party is an abusive alcoholic promising things will be different if we just ignore the bloody and bruised face and let them back in the house. They’re sorry they weren’t conservative enough for the Tea Party. They’re sorry they ran up trillion dollar deficits in trying to systematically squeeze New Deal programs and liquidate the U.S. government, baby. They were just foolin’ around with that whole torture thing. Just having some fun, is all. Just some frat house hazing, sheesh. They wouldn’t treat human beings like animals… unless they’re pickin’ cotton.Joke! Just kidding. So sensitive. They love black people. Clarence Thomas and Michael Steele are on their side. And homosexuals aren’t evil abominations of nature, they’re just making an evil life choice and destroying American moral fiber. And women…especially when they’re in the kitchen making babies who’ll oversee the cotton picking. Joking! Gosh. Really sensitive. Is it that time of the month, America?Don’t make them sorry they apologized! They sincerely(“snickers”) apologize for the Southern Strategy and Strom Thurmond, Lee Atwater and Karl Rove. Iran Contra, or supporting right wing death squads in Latin America, Osama and the Mujihadeen, and Saddam Hussein. They really thought Iraq was a grave danger(“what’s that look for?!”)and Katrina was just a simple misunderstanding, baby. The financial collapse was really all that Democrat Barney Frank’s fault– Not the marketing of exciting new free market products like derivatives and credit default swaps, adjustable rate mortgages, or AAA insurance ratings on predatory junk. And really, is modernizing and transitioning the infrastructure and economy away from fossil fuels all that good for sustainable domestic job growth and the ecosystem? We don’t need all those food and drug regulations do we? Growth, baby! Growth. We have to grow, full speed ahead, or Red China will beat us and Communist Russia won’t respect us. You don’t want that, do you? And what’s a middle class anyway without an ultra-wealthy class? They need those trillion dollar tax cuts, baby. They earned them fair and square. You’re not saying you believe in class warfare, are you? That’s silly, baby. Everyone knows class warfare is a liberal conspiracy theory trying to divide our love, baby. The losers always complain. And really, isn’t there not enough Evangelicals at the DOJ and Pentagon?Damn it, baby! I said I was sorry. Privatizing the military wasn’t our idea. It was the Private Sectors’sz! The private sector needs those CEO bonuses to retain the talent, baby! And profiteering from wars of choice, or denying people healthcare is Freeeedom! Markets. You know that, baby. Everyone knows that it’s supply that creates jobs.C’mon. Give us one more chance. We can prove we’ll be more conservative than Bush and Cheney(long live tax cuts!). CPAC only applauds Dick because he’s old and doesn’t have too many more heart attacks left. They hardly mean it.Whatya say, baby? We’re really, ‘burp’, sorry. This sad little story and chapter of American history has to end with a restraining order and I apparently have too much time on my hands

  • cynicalgirl

You think that’s bad? Wait til the dreaded IMMIGRATION REFORM! I don’t think there’s another issue that stirs up more racism. Just wait, it’s coming…..

  • caribbeanobserver

These people have been pushed over the edge bya) a black man in the white house who they feel should not be making decisions for them, because after all black people are niggers, which also means less of persons.b) the lack of conscience by the MSM anchors and pundits who have been inciting and encouraging these folks with their negative hostile rhetoric and acting out their continual disrespect for the presidentc) When something really terrible takes place, and it will soon enough, ONLY THEN,will these jackasses realise what and who they have set off.Yes folks, it’s coming,it’s coming and the thought is frightening!

  • eve

the good news!“We have the votes now. As we speak.”– Rep. John Larson (D-CT), in an interview on ABC’s This Week, on the health care reform bill.

  • caribbeanobserver

John Larson says one thing ….followed by the Msnbc’s white house reporter who suggests that is just expectation and of course interviewing stupid, I mean stupak!( Sorry, but as a woman, I hate any male referencing their thoughts on what I should or shouldn’t do with my body.)P.S Where are you Sir Cesca? I am missing your thoughts on this historic day! Hurry up and blog.

  • eljefejeff

“Sorry, but as a woman, I hate any male referencing their thoughts on what I should or shouldn’t do with my body.”As a man, I hate it too. That guy is a prick.

  • Nicole473

@ Mr. Brink…….”If the Republican party ever wrestles majority power, they’ll be supported by these leashless freaks.”The scariest thing of all. Shades of Germany.@ carribeanobserver…..”P.S Where are you Sir Cesca? I am missing your thoughts on this historic day! Hurry up and blog.”Ditto that.

  • Nicole473

Bob, remember all of the denials from the baggers and the republicans on your TP race articles? They have now come out of the woodwork, and not just in DC, but their comments permeate several of the threads on Huffpost yesterday. They are truly off their meds.————————I spent another 5 or 6 hours attempting to talk to Firebaggers on Hamsher’s “Fact Sheet” article. The article itself was clearly thrown together, some of the “myths” were made up by Hamsher, and the “documentation” led to FDL, where no documentation was provided for much of it, unless you wish to take Marcy Wheeler’s word for it.The rest of the documentation referenced reports, et al, predicated on old information from 2009.The firebaggers rabidly defended her and the article. My point is this. Are Progressives very much less at fault than the tea baggers for stirring up this muck by spreading complete and utter nonsense in the blogosphere?I have to say that I hold them responsible as well.

  • roxsteady

MrBrink, your comments were both hilarious and spot on. The GOP is riddled with toothless, idiots and racists homophobes. This is one time I’m glad we have the despicable media that we do. They’ll hopefully spend every minute on screen with Republicans and Conservatives, pressing them for a reaction to these escapees from the cast of deliverance. The Republicans party has subsidized this hatred with their rhetoric. It should now come back and bite the party of klansmen in the ass, hard! And as a woman I find Stupak to be a real dick. I hope the woman that’s running against him cleans his clock and knocks that dead raccoon off of his head. I’m so sick of these womb chasers! And, finally….Where Is Bob?

  • eve

I do want plenty of Cesca today. Not only for his thoughts, but I love reading the comments on this site. Astute, funny, clever, informed posters — as the above shows.

  • Nicole473

@ eve…..I, too, love reading the comments!

  • bibimimi

Racial epithets and homophobia? Next stop: gun play. You KNOW these “Patriots” are packin’. Progressives are not know for bustin’ caps if they don’t get their way. That’s why they think of us as know-it-all pusses.”Meow” over here, Gomer.

  • bibimimi

And…I’ve seen a lot of people referring to ‘Amarica’ [sic] as some sort of teabaggin’ utopia, using Michele Bachmann’s homepage gaffe against her and her drooling followers.Gawd, I love the world 2day.
