Gingrich: Obama Extorted Money From BP

While a few Republican lawmakers are backing away from Joe Barton’s remarks yesterday, the wingnut faction is embracing the “extortion” line. Here’s potential 2012 Republican presidential primary candidate Newt Gingrich:

Adding… It looks like “Chicago style shakedown” is becoming a popular line with Republicans.

    I bet BP wishes people like Gingrich and Barton would shut the fuck up.One can’t know what is in the hearts and minds of BP brass, but you gotta think that their willingness to pony up $20B was in hopes of cleaning some of the oily grime from their corporate image, ie; looking like a company taking a modest step towards responsibility.With Barton, Gingrich et al out there making the noise they’re making, it makes it seem like BP was forced to be responsible. A perception they certainly can’t be happy about.

    Their trash talk just proves your ongoing point Bob. It doesn’t matter what Mr. Obama says, what action he takes, what issue is currently on the burner, they are going to find a polar opposite argument, whether their talking points make any sense or not. At minimum, it gives the impression they don’t care how their comments affect the “small people.” I’ll bet many low information folks suck it up and nod their heads. That’s why I love the TV remote channel changer when they start spewing their crap.

    Over the past 30 years, the term “loyal opposition” has morphed in to the “disloyal opposition”.They will say anything, do anything, they do not care one whit how destructive they are, how negatively they impact this country and its people.In my view, they have become what they like to call others, anti-American.I have never seen this kind of hate directed toward a president in my lifetime.

    You know what I don’t get? Even if it were true that President Obama “extorted” $20 billion from BP, who really gives a fuck?! That’s a fraction of what this whole, goddamn mess is going to cost in the long run, and BP should be on the hook for the entire fucking tab. So we got $20 billion from a company that’s $200 billion in the black annually. Do they really think we’ll feel sorry for those criminals?
