Deadbeats

Not a surprise:

In a deal negotiated last month, President Obama and BP officials agreed the company would pay $5 billion annually over the next four years into an escrow account for damage its oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico caused. Ken Feinberg, who was appointed to administer oil spill claims out of the escrow fund, has said he “hasn’t been able to start writing claims checks” because BP PLC has failed to deposit any money into the $20 billion fund it promised to create.

I wonder how long this will go on.

I suspect that since the repubs have their back, they feel they don’t have to put any money into the account. now that they are trying to buy all the experts in the field it will be a cold day in hell for any money to show up. it will be one long law suit and we will all be old and grey before that has any results.

It will be fixed next week.I also read a rumor that Hayward is out.

Well, hell. We should apologize for even asking them for money, right? Is anyone besides me terrified that wingnuts might regain control of the federal government?A friend of mine opined that might be exactly what we need to ultimately save the US. Out of the Republicans’ total collapse of the country a new Phoenix might arise that will forever banish today’s “right wing.” I don’t think so. A banana republic would arise. The average American voter is so stupid, he or she would probably vote the Republicans right back in to “solve” the problems they created. We are doomed.

On that note John, a girl I know whom I would consider to be pretty intelligent changed her Facebook status today to read something like:Now I know how the Dems plan to pay for engorging the deficit! What will we do when there are no more rich people idiots!!Then she links to a story about the expiring Bush tax cuts!!In one sentence, she is bitching about the “engorging deficit” AND rallying for unpaid deficit busting tax cuts. She says she’s not biased, and that she’s been pissed about the deficit for “10 years now”Another born-again-”Independent” who voted for Bush twice and will probably vote for Palin.

Jack, I know people like that too. It’s infuriating. How long before republicans call out Obama as ineffective for not getting BP to pay up sooner?

As much as I hate to say it, this is a huge Obama failure! BP should never have had any say whatsoever regarding the clean-up/shutdown effort. The moment after the explosion the whole damn area should have been treated as a crime scene! Assets should have been seized and all US operations of BP and all other involved parties should have ceased immediately! The way Obama and Co. have handled this could be compared to letting a suspected murderer have his own PI’s do the entire crime scene investigation with no COP’s on the scene whatsoever.Truly epic failure! In this one case Obama has proven to be “just as bad (read incompetent) as Bush”!!!!!!!!!!!

As bad as Bush? Sheeeeeit! No.

What world are you living in? That statement is not only completely false, it is repulsive and dumb enough to have come from a teabagger. Or….a fucking firebagger.
