Glenn Beck Sabotaging Police, Teachers

This is a weird clip. Beck explains that his audience should pause or turn off his show so they can call their congressional representative (phone number on the screen) and urge them not to take federal money in the state-aid package passed and signed yesterday.

In other words, call the federal government to tell them not to take federal government money. Right. And what happens when police officers, firefighters and teachers are laid off due to a lack of funds?

This is one of those times when his whole ridiculous act can be seriously dangerous. He’s playing this character and urging his viewers to sabotage their own well-being.

Better that police officers get laid off than murdered by one of Glenn’s fans.

Again with the Beck fetish …

Yes, urge your state to refuse money that will help it stay afloat! How dare the government help states keep from laying off police, firefighters, and teachers! Socialism has arrived!(head explodes off-camera)This is more ridiculous than urging states not to take stimulus money.

Allen Frederick, again with the Bob Cesca Blog fetish….

It would be interesting to see how many of his viewers followed his directions.

Bob,Beck isn’t the first one to say this. It’s all over talk radio. Conservatives are saying exactly what Beck said, that there are strings attached to this money…that a state will only get this money if they match or increase spending on education this year and next.So the conservative point on all of this is that this bill does not allow states to cut educational costs in any way. They’re not just talking about teachers. Conservatives are saying that the bill will not allow states to be fiscally responsible and cut costs where they can to reduce their budgets.I don’t know WHAT is in the bill, I haven’t read it. But if these strings really are attached to it, I just have to ask, why? WHY?If it’s true, Bob, Dems just gave Repubs more ammunition. Already, conservative talk radio is blubbering about how this bill is just one big vote buy for the teachers union.Like I said, I don’t know if it’s true or not. But if it is, then it’s just another example of the kind of politics and corruption that pisses EVERY American off…except the special interest it benefits. If a spending bill is needed, why do the strings need to be attached? I hope for the Dems sake they aren’t…but if they are, shame on you.

That’s what crawled up Beck’s arse? That’s his reason for not wanting states to take the aid money? Because then states won’t be allowed to cut their education budgets?*headdesk*The Satanic Rodeo Clown has apparently started listening to a different voice in his head, because he sounds different in the clip. That’s not his usual Howard Beale or televangelist shtick, the rhythms are wrong. It sounds vaguely familiar, but I can’t place it. Anyone with a better ear have an idea who he’s trying to copy?@likala: I had the same thought.

@alopecia”Anyone with a better ear have an idea who he’s trying to copy?”I don’t know because I can’t listen to him. However, he does remind me of the character “Lonesome Rhodes” played by Andy Griffin in “A Face In a Crowd.”These quotes sound an awful lot like Beck. Olbermann calls him that for a good reason.

Lonesome Rhodes: This whole country’s just like my flock of sheep!Marcia Jeffries: Sheep?Lonesome Rhodes: Rednecks, crackers, hillbillies, hausfraus, shut-ins, pea-pickers – everybody that’s got to jump when somebody else blows the whistle. They don’t know it yet, but they’re all gonna be ‘Fighters for Fuller’. They’re mine! I own ‘em! They think like I do. Only they’re even more stupid than I am, so I gotta think for ‘em. Marcia, you just wait and see. I’m gonna be the power behind the president – and you’ll be the power behind me!

He most likely does not need the services that the rest of us need.He has his own security and if he has school age kids, they are in private schools. You know very well, if something were to happen to him, he would get first class treatment, either by fire, police etc.He is trying use people to stop the services that don’t affect him and he does not want to pay for.He is a disgusting excuse for a human being.

Like an unfunny, creepier version of Andy Kaufman, Beck’s persona is an act.He will say/do what it takes to garner attention and therefore keep his show.I think he will eventually get around to wrestling women in the WWE (and promoted by Linda McMahon).

Oh don’t worry, M. Friedman prophesied that the free market will readily replace those public servant positions. Private schools, private security forces, and contracted firefighting services for all! Well, at least those who can afford it. Ah, the free rider problem.
