The Mighty Morphin Martyr Rangers

Colbert genius. Beck? Not.

Standing ovation. Colbert is easily the most consistently funny and smart comedy show on television.

See Eugene Robinson in today’s Post disemboweling Beck. He drops the hammer.

If we didn’t laugh, we’d be crying. I think that’s why the Gods gave us libtards a sense of humor.

Bob, I think the next segment was excellent too “You mosque be kidding”…the way he skewers the press for planting the hate and ideas into islamophobes heads.

One more point, did you notice the clip where Beck talks about “if something happens to him, you know who is responsible”. He’s actually thinking someone might kill him? It reminds me of that old adage ‘Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t really out to get you.’

Maybe the mother ship will fly down and suck him up. If not, I hope it rains there Saturday.

“He’s actually thinking someone might kill him?”I’m about to say a really, really, really horrible thing. I’ve been thinking about this, and listening to Beck talk about this event in recent days. I’m probably completely crazy, and a sick, horrible person, for thinking this, but……. I think he’s hoping someone might kill him.Or worse yet: Maybe he’s pulled a “Bulworth” and arranged his own assassination.Think about it. What would be the reaction if that were to happen? What would it lead to?Every time I hear him speak about this event, I can’t help but get the sense that he is setting himself up to be martyred. Ironically, it reminds me of Dr. King’s “I may not get there with you…” speech on the eve of his assassination in ’68. It’s chilling. I know he wants to make people think this event is bigger and more profoundly important than it really is or ever should be, but I can’t escape this feeling I have that something awful is going to happen, perhaps by design. It’s a sick thought, I know. I feel terrible for thinking it and I do NOT want to see it happen. But look at the comment that Irish Girl pointed out, Listen to Beck’s words and tone of voice when he talks about this event, with this in mind.

Within two minutes of posting this I heard someone on the Randi Rhodes show make the same suggestion, although he suggested Beck would fake it.I’m reminded of “Bob Roberts” too….

  • Alan Fors

@GrafZep: I had the same thought while reading this compilation of Beck “God” and “Miracle” quotes at MediaMatters. He’s almost kooky enough to set something like that up.

Good lord, GrafZepplin’s allusion actually sounds plausible. The rightwing goons taking him seriously would probably melt down their own Goldline coins to mold a symbolic crown to place atop his pudgy head.See, I watched Bullworth not too long ago, and I wouldn’t put it above FNC to actually stage something like that, or partake in the real thing.Shit, I’m actually fearing for the silly marshmallow man’s life right now.Well, actually I’m not, ’nuff said.

  • Lexaburn

Oh, I believe that’s both a “Bullworth” and a “Network” allusion I’m making by the way.Nope, wouldn’t put it past FNC at all.

  • Chase Stowell

I’m scared that Glenn will fake not only his assassination by a “Progressive” but will also pull a “resurrection”. “His mortal wound was healed” type stuff. His end goal would be to spark an armed revolt. These people really, really scare me. I don’t want to wake up one day in an America where I’ll be blown away for not believing in God (and voting for Team Blue) by somebody who knows less about the Bible than I do.

Put that Colbert clip in the national vault and archive it. It’s one for the ages.
