Chuck Todd is Very Serious

Fox News Channel spent much of yesterday and today ripping Stephen Colbert for testifying in Congress on the issue of migrant workers. To be expected.

But Chuck Todd, while hosting Hardball, had the staggering nerve to excoriate Colbert for disrespecting the institution of the U.S. Congress and — get this — accused Colbert of “jumping the shark.” All this from a very serious cable news villager who treats politics as sport.

If you want to read my Twitter assault on Chuck, go here or check out the widget on the left of this page. I’m too exhausted to re-post everything here. Suffice to say, I intend to relentlessly badger him for a good while.

Disrespecting the institution of US Congress? As if Congress needs any help from Stephen Colbert to disrespect the institution. How about apologizing to the BP CEO for being treated so unfairly?Chucky Todd being treated as a serious political thinker is much more insulting to our national politics than Colbert seizing the moment and using humor to illustrate a point.

This could be a setback for your campaign to get blocked by Palin. But it’s still a good place to make a stand.

Chuck Todd gets paid for his opinion?Holy fuck.Really?Does every asshole in the country know about this?

  • bob

Does every asshole in the country know about this?Do you count?

  • JackDanieL

I find it hard to trust people with two first names(apologies to those I inevitably offend)

  • ceu

gosh, you know? The little bob has convinced me. Todd was right to mock Colbert’s testimony while ignoring the substance… And since Todd is on the teevee machine, we shouldn’t question his opinion – he’s obviously much smarter than those of us who look beneath the surface & realize that Colbert actually did some homework, had some really good points to make, and got a whole lot of people to watch a House hearing.yup, bob. your being obnoxious has done what you set out to do – convince us of whatever you were trying to convince us of. Mission accomplished.

  • MrBrink

“Do you count?”Only when I’m two-flush pissing in your toothless face, ya little glory hole fluffer.

  • roxsteady

Bob, It was your duty to bash that stupid fuck! I saw Hardball tonight and he had the nerve to say that he couldn’t believe that the committee members didn’t get up and walk out. Fuck you Chuck. Clearly he agreed with Steve King, the same sick bastard who sympathized with that fucking loon who crashed his plane into that government building. Or, as I said earlier, what did Chuck think of Louie Gomer Pyle and his “terror Babies” bullshit? Todd is an ignorant asshole. My favorite video of Todd has to be his takedown by Jeremy Scahill on Bill Maher’s show for his and the rest of the Beltway media’s lack of seriousness.

ya gots to love the Brinkster.

  • roxsteady

That depends on your definition of love.If it’s love ofthe dick you can’t seethat’s as small as a peaor the shit that does stinkthen it must be MrBrink?

Todd jumped the shark when the ’08 election season ended. They use to go to him for poll analysis and delegate counts (ugh, remember that?) and he was fairly good at it. But for some bizarre reason the execs at MSNBC thought it was a good idea to promote him to Chief White House Correspondent. He is completely under-qualified for that position and is basically an embarrassment to the network. Both Chuck Todd and Ed Shultz need to be shown the door.

  • CaliCat

Also, Chuck Todd is a total kiss-ass to Republicans because he knows his Beltway media masters lean that way. He’d suck off anyone to keep his fancy job.

  • Roberta Anderson

Maybe the reason Chuck and the MSM are all over Colbert, he is too spot on. They never forgave him for his take down of President Bush and the Media at the National Press Club annual dinner. The press has a long memory when they get taken down like he did that night. I thought Colbert did an excellent job at the hearing, some of the congress people were a little nervous. Can’t imagine why.

As said before, Pricko General Chuckie Todd is a normal insincere, cynical minded twisted Repug.I have never enjoyed the breed of so-called sarcastic- type reporting he does, and I pay him no mind whatsoever! Poor Chuckie, tries to sound relevant, but alas… fails miserably.Bob, feel free to relentlessly badger his sleazy mush away!@ Mr Brink. Nice to see your other skills on show.Always look forward to your little spot-on missives!

    Toldja so, way back when.

Hmmfph. I’m watching yesterday’s hearings, archived at C-SPAN . No one mentioned what a huge douche Steve King was during his opening statement. “A thought that comes to mind as I listen is I wonder how the eskimos got along all those years without fresh fruits and vegetables if it’s a national security issue…” Guess he’s unaware that fruits & veggies grow in Alaska, too, and that the native Americans there weren’t protected from being overrun by outsiders…

And it was perfectly fine for a republican to invite Elmo but a witty bit of testimony from Colbert is inappropriate? Who knew cartoon characters were the right individuals to inform the congress?
