“I think the Congress has the ability to declare the area a national battlefield memorial because I think we should think of the World Trade Center as a battlefield site; this is a war,” he said, apparently thinking that if Ground Zero was a national park, Park51 would be restricted from building near it.

Good idea, Newt. I hope the under-Ground Zero mall they’re planning is scrapped. After all, if the National Park Service (thank a progressive!) takes over, that means no shopping malls on — or in — that ground. Come to think of it, it’s not a horrible idea.

This was an act of terrorism by extremists, not a battle during a war.In fact, a quick Google search brings up this quote from Newt himself: This is not a war on terrorism. Terrorism is an activity. This is a struggle with radical Islamists in both their militant and their stealth form.Damn, Newt and his nasty cheating jackass divorcing ways annoy the shit out of me.

The irony is, though, Newt was born and raised in Pennsylvania.I have no doubt that he knows very well that making Ground Zero a National Park will have zero impact on Park 51. He’s just doing what he always does: Throwing bombs out there to get the low-information Fox viewers riled up.
