Question of the Day

Will the firebaggers support the potential Republican effort to defund healthcare and shut down the government?

I think they will. Kill the bill and all that.

If the Republicans take Congress, 2011 is going to be an insane year for politics. Arguably more insane than anything we’ve witnessed since 2002.

Hmmm I don’t know. Queen Firebagger thrives on popularity and hits. If the Republicans do take control this fall there will be enough outrage on the left to drive some decent traffic back to the left blogosphere (which has been down since the election).I honestly think the firebaggers will start becoming bigger supporters of the President just in hopes to bring more people to their insane little corner of the innertubes.

They’ll just blame Obama for losing Congress, too.

I’m not certain they would support it, but I do think it could serve as a wake-up call to remove their heads from their rectums.IntoxiNation makes a good point and its hard to judge what is genuine and what is trolling for internet traffic. I for one wont forget what douchebags some of them have been even if they change their tune.

Name names, Ashby: Jane the Hamsher, David “Goodhair” Sirota, and (gods help me Bob) Arianna “Sharing Armpit-Cooties with Newt” Huffington.

A few of the staff of C&L have also been pretty unfair to the administration, often presenting emotionally charged opinions and reactions instead of thinking things through first. Not all of them, but enough that warrant mentioning.Im certainly starting to wonder about Huffington. I think a handful of decent journalists and contributors who do have some integrity are what keep The Post afloat. I dont know how much of it is due to her personal direction, but the editors distort the headlines as much as they can possibly get away with in the quest for more traffic.

It took me about five years to believe Arianna was sincere in her about-face, but she always was (and probably always will be) primarily interested in attention. She did help coin the oxymoronic phrase “compassionate conservative.” And I’m still not sure what that whole John Roger thing was about.

Good for you, Osborne! You left out Glenn Greenwald though. :) As to Bob’s post…. I would hope that they won’t go that far, but they might. I know that they have very good at crowing, even when said reason to crow is harmful to the left.In my view, the Firebaggers seem more like conservatives than liberals anyway.

also.Re AH……I’ll withhold comment out of respect for Bob, but there is a lot that could be said.

Hissied up Republicants will try certainly to undo HCR piece by piece and hence continue the methodical thorough delegitimizing and (literal) dehumanizing of Obama. Birthers, his mustard, the whole O=hitler tact (that was their OPENING card!)is all part of the larger narrative, that the new Confederacy does not do uppity. Given the smorgasbord of sewage and non-policy the GOP has thrown to the American people it is the only viable consistent conclusion. When the GOP votes against policies they themselves once supported after Obama endorses them, it became clear to me that the GOP is hunkered down to swift boat the administration. It works because the right and its media zombie wingnut gallery at Fox et al aid in the vast almost Soviet style revision of recent history. Blacks are the oppressors, the rich are over taxed and down trodden, big biz is trustworthy to be fair and honest etc. Glenn Beck is the advance guard trying to wipe away one of the most recent social justice sacred cows, namely Civil Rights and MLK. One bigot is a coward but millions given voice by media sadly aren’t.

More interesting than the question itself, is the asking of it, and some of the comments. Bob is clearly desperate at this point as nearly every single post is fear-mongering, and vitriol pointed at those who disagree with him. The comments here support that.Let’s see here, who’s got more brains? Glenn Greenwald, or Nicole473? Yeah, I think I’ll stick with Glenn. Is J M Ashby more accomplished than Jane Hamsher in the progressive movement? Nah. Don’t think so. I think Jane’s credentials speak for themselves. As for Bob, it’s no longer any secret that he’s reviled in the progressive movement. No one likes his copping of the title “progressive” when he’s nothing of the sort. The shamelessness on this site is unparalleled. For instance:Imagine if Bush had appointed Alan Simpson the head of a Social Security commission. Bob would be trashing him daily. Obama does it? Nary a word.Imagine if Bush had made a “predator drones” joke at a dinner event. Bob would be trashing him daily. Obama does it? Nary a word. That’s just two simple examples of Bob’s complete lack of credibility, something Greenwald has discussed repeatedly. I could list dozens more, but it wouldn’t matter. I honestly think Bob is so ashamed inside, he knows he can never admit it publicly lest he lose face. There’s that credibility issue again. Also, firedoglake has reported on the Catfood Commission relentlessly, has gathered signatures, and has petitioned the president to end this farce. What has Bob done about it? What has anyone on this site done about it? Nothing, of course. It’s much more productive to keep tabs on Glenn Beck and whine about others who don’t agree with you. Pathetic. Really pathetic.

And yet you continue to lap every word of Bob’s and everyone else who comments here, Frederick. You’re quite the masochist.Jane Hamsher has 35 years on me in age and I am not a writer or tv-personality, so it should be no shock I dont have her “credentials.” That doesnt mean she is correct. Are credentials your only criteria? Don Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney have several pages and 40 years worth of credentials. Does this mean they are correct in everything?Alan Simpsion has been trashed here plenty, and so was the Predator Drone joke. What have you done about the resurgence of the Right, Allen? What have you done to help get legislation passed? Nothing? Its much more productive to keep tabs on Bob Cesca and whine about his readers who don’t agree with you. Pathetic. Really pathetic.

  • Nicole473

You’re a whiny little bitch, Allen, with nary a decent point to impart at any time.As to credibility…. Jane-the-blowhard-with-the-failing-career-Hamsher lost hers when she A)decided to team up with Grover Norquist. GROVER NORQUIST, ALLEN.And B)when she began defending that right wing psychopath, Erik Ericson. ERIk ERICSON, ALLEN. And finally, C)When her constant loud and idiotic screeching over EVERYTHING & ANYTHING re Obama, caused the wingnuts to have a never ending orgasm, and emboldened then to go further and further in their quest to tear down Obama and the Left. Now they’re complaining about a goddamn RUG, ALLEN.So excuse me if I can’t summon a bit of pity for the IDIOT psycho stalker that you clearly are; tolerance for those of your ilk is not in my DNA.

One thing the RWNJs have proven about Obama – his remark about them clinging to guns & religion was right on the mark.
