What Did the Democrats Do?

Rachel Maddow, last night, walked us through the list.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Vote appropriately.

If the Republicans take the House, the only things that will get done in the next two years will be investigations and a shut-down of the government. That’s the next two years of congressional governing.

If the GOP takes back the House, the idiots who voted for them will be forced to watch as nothing happens. Personally, I hope they do shut down the government for a few weeks. The media can start warning the geezers that they may not get their gub-mint check if Congress doesn’t come back soon. The public will be pissed because the dumbasses they voted for are now fisting them on national tv. It will be 1994 all over again and a rude awakening for “low information” voters”.

In addition, Bob, What the Fuck Has Obama Done So Far has taken off in the last 24 hours. It’s a pity that it didn’t happen earlier, but I’m hoping that the slew of anti-tea party, pro-democratic media will make a difference somewhere. You saw Hi, I’m a Tea Partier, right?

This was a good segment. I was just telling a friend of mine last night who was worried about the GOP rolling the country back 50 years that whats really going to happen is absolutely nothing, for 2 years. Itll be 2 years of lameduck.

    What rox said.

I keep hearing (from young people I know) about all the taxes! Ick! The evil taxes!I’m almost too tired to point to the tax breaks in the Stimulus. Almost.

O.K., that’s great and all, but for chrissakes, you can’t leave it to TV pundit and blogs to tout it! WHEN will the DNC and the WH get it? ITS ABOUT MARKETING, ITS ABOUT REPITITION! How many times have we read that people have no idea their taxes have been cut? Have no idea how much money people have saved b/c of the tax cuts in the stimulus, the COBRA relief that was in the stimulus? The messaging and the MARKETING have been horrible – again and again and again – you have to lay this at the feet of the WH and DNC communication arms. Its simply NOT ENOUGH to expect truth and hope to rise up and cut thru the GOP & Fox’s 24 hr. drumbeat of bullshit and lies. GET USED TO IT! WHEN WILL WE PLAY OFFENSE? Its not enough to rely on blogs to get the word out. Its not enough to have Robert Gibbs stammer on the message repeatedly every freaking day in front of the press corps. Its not enough for Dems to NOT go on Fox “News” – GO ON THE OFFENSIVE!WHEN will the Dems truly learn?I’m sick of it.

Maddow forgot to include Stem Cell funding.

I wish Rachel had done this segment prior to the night before the election. Not to mention, she did it on a Monday night when all the wingnuts and wannabees were at rapt attention in front of ABC’s crappy reality show, Dancing With the STARS.Nevertheless, a great segment.

    A) The administration and Congress HAVE talked about their accomplishments every day! How do people think their message is supposed to get out, though, when the media cuts away from a town hall rally? When they don’t air the WH daily press briefing? When they book more analysts than actual representatives for their on-air BS sessions?www.whitehouse.gov has stuff every day that shows the work they are doing but how many Americans go there? Are we so lazy that we only want info to come to us? And then we criticize the admin when the media doesn’t do that job well? Obama doesn’t run the networks so this argument that they haven’t touted their accomplishments enough should be aimed at the media who doesn’t bother to reflect that they ARE touting their accomplishments.B) The administration is forced, by the American media and people, to buffer all good news. They can’t talk about jobs creation being up, the GDP being up, the deficit going down, etc. without having to say “but it’s not good enough”. If they don’t preface and disclaim with that statement, they are “out of touch”. But each time they buffer good news, people hear the “but” and not the good.C) Rachel Maddow has done the accomplishments at least twice before. I am guessing she has done it once a month or every six weeks or so. And that proves my point. Rachel is supporting of the accomplishments and she does a kick-ass job of presenting them. But even she doesn’t “repeat” it enough. That is not anything the administration can control, is it? Why don’t WE tell the people we watch to do a better job?We are so willing to bitch and moan about the administration but we forget that the media consistently drops the ball. And what do we do about that? Nada. We boycott them when they hire asshats. But we don’t remind them that the administration’s message needs to be discussed at least once a day.Jennifer

the administration does talk about their accomplishments but it is ALWAYS drowned out by people going “meh” on the cable news or on the blogs.

OK, so Allonfla said what I said but with fewer words. Such is my life.Jennifer

Unfortunately you can’t force people to listen even if you illustrate your accomplishments very clearly.

The funny thing about the shutdown will be that all the tea party folks on social security, disability, et al will suddenly stop receiving their checks.Wrote about it on my blog, if anyone wants to click my name and check it out.
