Adults? That’s Rich.

The House Republicans continue to play grabass with the debt ceiling. Benen reports:

…incoming House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) acknowledged that he’s well aware of the fact that his chamber is going to have to extend the federal debt limit. He noted that’s already “made it pretty clear” to his own caucus that Republicans are “going to have to deal with it as adults.”

Boehner added, “Whether we like it or not, the federal government has obligations and we have obligations on our part.”

Dealing with the debt limit “as adults” doesn’t appear to be going well. This morning, two right-wing lawmakers — Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Rep.-elect Mike Kelly (R-Minn.) — reiterated their opposition to raising the debt limit on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Two things here. 1) Do they have any clue what will happen if the debt ceiling isn’t raised? Obviously not. And, 2) Why the hell was Michele Bachmann on Face the Nation? Very serious of them. Were they unable to book a tiny car filled with clowns?

I’m betting that Boehner will be in rehab by March.

I think Boehner will not fare well in the new Congress. One can hope. They are idiots if they truly do not understand the consequences of a refusal to raise the debt ceiling.Or, they are people who don’t give a damn if America burns because of their witlessly stupid policies intended only to bring down the president.Also….Happy New Year, everyone!!!

    Boehner..aka..The Grim Weeper:-)

I’m betting Bachman and the rest of the teabagging congress critters will launch a challenge to depose Boehner as speaker before the 2012 election.

I agree with Nicole. Boehner has no idea what hes dealing with. The teaparty is a galactus style all-consuming entity of stupid and will not be controlled by the establishment. Expect the next 2 years to be story after story of republican congressmen “going rogue.”

Good points guys. Eugene Robinson had a great column the other day about how Boehner will actually need the Dems becasue the baggers aren’t going to want to go along with this which will be political suicide for Boehner either way. His will be the shortest reign as Speaker in recent history. I expect him to be crying like a baby in November of 2012 when he’s ousted. This is going to be fun.

Boehner brought this on himself by being such a prick. He doesn’t know how to lead or bring together a coalition. He deserves to suffer failure of monumental proportions.

I never thought I’d say it, but for a very brief moment there, I felt sorry for John Boehner….A very BRIEF moment!! Otherwise, have fun, Orange a Loopy Looser!

“Why the hell was Michele Bachmann on Face the Nation? Very serious of them. Were they unable to book a tiny car filled with clowns?”Seems to me the booking accomplished both!Another thing, Sirius Satellite continues to run promos for its political stations featuring Boahner saying something about how the people voted and they voted for change. Yeah, we did that a couple, three years ago, and you and you butt-buddies held your breath and took your ball home and wouldn’t play well with others and we got none of the change we voted for.

I inadvertently had CBS on when I saw Bachmann rear her head on my television machine. Not being close to the remote, I screamed at my wife to change the channel immediately because I knew nothing Bachmann said would be worthwhile. Luckily, the wifey switched stations before Bachmann opened her mouth, and the New Year wasn’t ruined on Day 2.Happy New Year all.

Republicans: the adults.Sloganeering at its worst. Some of the most churlish, superficial, and contemptuous elitist scuzzbuckets throughout America’s political history adhered to what these so-called “conservatives” espouse.Their witless Pavlovian tricks do not fool me nor anyone else that seriously wants people to be comfortable in life. The entire party thrives on malicious for the most part, and those that do not are too stupid and/or naive to understand the true intentions of the party while clinging to some imaginary set of American ideals. They are a political party of rascals, scoundrels, and villains.I say this as a mental health professional who has observed politics in a serious manner for a decade and a half. The party, as a whole, has never done not one thing that has benefitted this nation. Bugaboos, specters, and wackadoo fantasies are what they attempt to fix, as they distract the country from its true purpose: to sabotage the American working class for the benefit of wanna-be plutocrats.
