In other news, Rick Santorum has a problem with the House approved Paul Ryan budget. His problem is that it doesn’t go far enough. He believes current seniors should be thrown off the program too, not just seniors of the future. Rick Santorum is running for president, by the way.

Here’s a lovely, baroque take-down of Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. It’s worth the couple of minutes of your time.

Medicare should be means tested similarly to the way the VA means tests and medicaid means tests. Many very and extremely wealthy seniors jump onto medicare when they turn 65 and then get gold plated supplemental insurance through AARP.In 1965 when medicare was enacted very few seniors were wealthy. Today that has changed.

Kyrie O’Connor on this week’s “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!”:”Oh, come on, don’t you love John Boehner, though? I mean, he’s kind of a new kind of Republican: he’s like emotional and he’s conservative. He’s an emoticon.”Tell me that’s not funny.CorralesNM, that video makes me very happy.

Can’t sleep so am watching “The Killing Fields” for the first time in decades. What has happened to our movie industry?

  • CorralesNM

@ec:They only have so many movies; most everyone has seen all of them. Its not possible to make enough movies to have new ones floating through very often, be they good or bad.Im watching Fandango, for a Saturday night. :) Alopecia….luv that comment: boner the emotiCon.Priceless!

@Corrales, I should have been clearer. Why aren’t movies like that made anymore? It was as powerful this time as it was the first time I saw it. Kind of like “On the Waterfront” in powerful terms.

Marco?Rubio!Where’s that Castle Rock killer been hiding?I thought for sure he’d be a much more outspoken gloryhound creeper. I’m suspicious.

Anyone voting for Santorum for anything besides ‘dog catcher’, should have their right to vote revoked.Bleeping morons.

  • CorralesNM

@ec:Yeh, I got that from your post, just wanted to remindmyself that good new movies are hard to find;often now I find movies that strike me on a morepersonal level; small quiet flics.I think when film-making was young it was easier, not simpler, but easier to make big splash flics thatstruck home for larger audiences. There are some flics that can be viewed over and over and never lose their appeal.(im really glad for this new blog format!)

CNN such a joke. On Candy Crowley today, their gas price expert was former Shell President John Hofmeister. He says we need to produce more oil at home, and that no one is getting rich over gas prices except for foreign oil countries. Right. I guess the largest profits any industry has seen in history doesn’t mean getting rich. Right. And Ms. Crowley didn’t even challenge him on that. C’mon!!! I mean she challenged him just a teeny bit on other stuff, but C’mon!!!
