...if you believe in Climate Change.
At least that's the new message from the Heartland Institute which has purchased billboards along the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago that display things such as this:
The billboard series features Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber; Charles Manson, a mass murderer; and Fidel Castro, a tyrant. Other global warming alarmists who may appear on future billboards include Osama bin Laden and James J. Lee (who took hostages inside the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in 2010).
These rogues and villains were chosen because they made public statements about how man-made global warming is a crisis and how mankind must take immediate and drastic actions to stop it.
Notice that there is no scientific claim or dispute at the heart of this. This campaign does not present scientific evidence to contradict the widely accepted fact that our climate is changing. Something that over 60 percent of Americans now agree with following several years of experiencing and witnessing freakish weather.
This is about character assassination and misinformation, and it's akin to conjuring images of mushroom clouds to invoke the fear of terrorism.
