Voter Suppression

Whoops? Cat Out of the Bag

We all know voter ID laws are aimed at suppressing the vote, but politicians aren't suppose to actually admit it as Pennsylvania Republican House Leader Mike Turzai did this weekend.

“We are focused on making sure that we meet our obligations that we’ve talked about for years,” said Turzai in a speech to committee members Saturday. He mentioned the law among a laundry list of accomplishments made by the GOP-run legislature.

“Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

I don't believe voter ID laws alone can overcome a deficit of the size Mitt Romney is facing in Pennsylvania, but I applaud Mike Turzai for proudly boasting of his party's efforts to steal the election.

How will Pennsylvania voters react after learning their elected leaders spent time and money intentionally trying to hand the election to Mitt Romney rather than tackling, you know, real problems?

I suppose the answer to that question would depend on how many Pennsylvanians believe the black man in the White House is the real problem.
