Sarah Palin’s on-again, off-again appearance at Monday night’s gala GOP fundraising dinner is off — again.
After being invited — for a second time — to speak to the annual joint fundraiser for the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Palin was told abruptly Saturday night that she would not be allowed to address the thousands of Republicans there after all.
The reason?
The disinvitation from speaking, said a campaign committee official, was done “out of respect” for [keynote speaker] Gingrich.
They say Palin would upstage Newt. And of course she would.
The reason for my laughter, by the way, wasn't at Palin's expense for once. It was aimed at the Republican Party's utter inability to embrace the future out of deference for dinosaurs like Gingrich.
Good job, once again, Republicans! You're doing great!
