When the Biden administration took office in January, they set a goal of injecting coronavirus vaccines into 100 million arms within their first 100 days, but as you know we actually saw 200 million shots administered in the first 100 days.
Now, 150 days into the administration, at least 300 million shots have been administered and 55 percent of adults have received their second shots and are fully vaccinated
WASHINGTON, June 18 (Reuters) - The United States has administered 300 million COVID-19 vaccinations in 150 days, a White House official said on Friday ahead of President Joe Biden’s scheduled update on his administration’s vaccination program. [...]
While Biden would "make clear that there is more work to be done" to ensure an equitable response to the pandemic, the U.S. economy was experiencing its strongest rebound in decades, the White House said.
"The results are clear: America is starting to look like America again, and entering a summer of joy and freedom," the White House said in a fact sheet.
To say we're "entering a summer of joy and freedom" feels corny, but they're not wrong. That's certainly how I've felt so far. The end of masks was emotionally complicated for me, but I haven't worn one for a month now and I don't miss it. I can't say things are back to normal because I am not normal, but a new normal is emerging for me personally.
Administering 300 million shots is a great achievement, of course, but we need to inject about 600 million shots into arms to cover virtually everyone and it looks like we might a hit a wall in the 60 to 70 percent rate of vaccination. But hopefully that will be enough.
I remember when the Trump regime's clown show rollout made it look like most of us wouldn't be vaccinated until the fall or winter. I still think that would have been the case if Trump had been reelected.
