I was originally going to post this study about Americans becoming less creative without my crotchety old man rantings. But here's something I've observed: kids today play Guitar Hero and Rock Band instead of learning to play real instruments. Another thing I've observed: the videos that get passed around YouTube are horribly uncreative (high view counts rarely indicate high quality).
Neither of these observations are scientific and should be taken as such. (I could probably write 5,000 words on the let-down of internet video -- perhaps another time.)
That said, I could tell you story after story about how uncreative television has become. But then I'd never work again. There are certainly exceptions, but, for the most part, we're living in a creative desert -- especially in the areas that are supposed to be the most creative.
