Paul Ryan appeared outside of a closed SUV factory yesterday and criticized the president for not preventing the closure of the facility.
“I remember President Obama visiting it when he was first running, saying he’ll keep that plant open,” Ryan said in Ohio Thursday, describing the shuttered GM factory in Janesville, Wis. “One more broken promise.”
And now... The rest of the story.
But after the financial crisis and a collapse in demand for the SUVs the factory produced, it shut down in December 2008 in the waning days of Bush’s second term. It’s still owned by GM, but has been closed ever since.
That's right. The plant was shut down before President Obama was inaugurated. But as we've all observed, history began on 1/20/09. The debt started on that date from zero. The deficit, too. The financial crisis. The wars. All President Obama's fault.
