Are you ready for another war of choice? Rick Perry is, and he already has a target in mind.
Texas governor and Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Saturday said he would be open to sending U.S. troops into Mexico to combat drug cartels.
Speaking in New Hampshire during a campaign stop, Perry said, “It may require our military in Mexico working in concert with them to kill these drug cartels and keep them off our border.”
Perry could just be talking out of his ass. Or this could be the next neo-con agenda. And when you're dealing with modern Republicans, it's hard to judge. After all, plans were drawn up for invading Iraq before former President Bush was even elected.
The notion of bombing Iran seems to have evaporated from public discourse, at least temporarily, but don't think that means there aren't conservative think-tanks out there right now planning America's next war of adventurism. Plans which they will keep tucked away in their back pocket for the next instance of a Republican presidency.
