In case you hadn't heard, one of Ted Cruz's lucky sycophants will soon be invited to accompany the Republican presidential candidate on a private shooting trip.
This lucky winner, however, will have to pass a background check.
In an interview with TPM on Friday afternoon, Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler defended the contest's background check requirement and said it was "not inconsistent" with the senator's track record.
Tyler said Cruz had not taken issue with current system of background checks, but specifically opposed the 2013 bill, which would have imposed them on sales between private individuals.
It makes perfect sense to perform a background check on someone who will be firing guns alongside a senator and presidential candidate, doesn't it?
Of course it does, but it also makes sense to perform a check on anyone who purchases guns.
Don't tread on Ted Cruz.
