Greg Sargent this morning presents the DSCC's rebuttal to the Frank Luntz memo. The framing is predictably clunky. The Senate campaign committee says the Republicans...
“will do everything in their power to obstruct commonsense financial reforms that will work to protect working families.”
First, work to protect working families? Did Sarah Palin write that, also?
Second, if this is their argument, the Luntz Republicans have already won the debate. The framing is too long and cumbersome. The better line is something like, "The Republicans are conspiring with the big banks." Or, "The opposition is lying to protect Wall Street banks." Or, "The Republicans are giving the banks a 'get out of jail free' card."
Now, in their defense, this might not be the frame. It might just be a line tossed to Greg Sargent by a flunky. But the line sucks and they need to wise up with some better framing.
