Benghazi Committee Chairman May Have Broken Another Law

Written by SK Ashby

A former investigator announced his intention to file a lawsuit against the Select Benghazi Committee for unlawfully firing him, but Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) may have broken another law during the weekend scrum.

Major Brad Podliska's lawyer has accused Chairman Gowdy of violating federal law in his attempt to discredit and smear Podliska.

“Both Representative Gowdy and the committee have clearly violated terms of the confidentiality agreement and the Congressional Accountability Act,” said Peter Romer-Friedman, one of Podliska’s attorneys, to MSNBC on Monday afternoon. [...]

The lawyers allege that Gowdy and the committee improperly released confidential information regarding an employment dispute with Podliska, in an effort to discredit him.

The committee has responded by blaming Podliska for inserting himself into the news cycle, but it's not clear to me if that justifies Gowdy's latest salvo of selective leaks.

I suppose only time and a court battle will settle the score. In any event, the entire Benghazi Committee charade is crumbling.

Each news cycle occupied by these allegations is one less occupied by email conspiracy theories. The attack in Benghazi itself became an afterthought long ago.
