Representative Steve King explains why he opposes the farm bill currently lingering in the halls of congress and why he has personally introduced legislation that prohibits state and local governments from establishing their own animal cruelty laws.
When the legislation that passed in the farm bill that says that it’s a federal crime to watch animals fight or to induce someone else to watch an animal fight but it’s not a federal crime to induce somebody to watch people fighting, there’s something wrong with the priorities of people that think like that.
Steve King really loves the part of the farm bill that would kick nearly 2 million people off of food stamps, but the part about making it a federal crime to host or attend dog fights? That's a deal breaker for him.
And state's rights are so pre-Obamacare-is-upheld.
Speaking of the farm bill -- House Republicans are now abandoning it and opting to pass piece-meal legislation to aide drought-stricken farmers instead.

Approximately 16 cents of every dollar spent on the SNAP program by the federal government literally trickles down to farmers. It's good for business and it's good for people.
