In a profile of a congressman who could only be described as a caveman (his words), Representative Ted Yoho (R-FL) shares his delusions of grandeur and reminds us why America is doomed.
“This one is from a 72-year-old lady: ‘Way to go, tiger,’ ” said Yoho (R-Fla.), a freshman congressman. In the middle of the government shutdown that he had helped bring on, Yoho is reading texts off his personal cellphone.
Here’s another. “It just says, ‘Shutdown,’ ” Yoho said. “With a smiley face.”
Shutdown
“You’re seeing the tremor before the tsunami here,” Yoho said. “I’m not going to raise the debt ceiling.” [...]
Today, Yoho compares his role in the American political system to the role that Fred Flintstone’s feet played, in Fred Flintstone’s car.
“I see one side of our government, or two-thirds of it, running 100 miles an hour toward socialism,” Yoho said, meaning Obama and the Democratic-led Senate. He knows people agree with him on that, he said, because he asks people about it at town-hall meetings: “ ‘How many people feel we’re heading into socialism?’ Hands go up.”
So, Yoho said, conservatives “are like Fred and Barney in the Flintstone-mobile, trying to stop that.” This year, that meant trying to defund Obama’s health-care law, even at the risk of shutting down the government.
I have no idea how pedaling the Flintstone-mobile is suppose to symbolize the desperate, imagined struggle against socialism, but comparing the GOP to cavemen seems entirely appropriate.
Despite a torrent of bad press and angry phone calls from local constituents, Yoho reportedly has not changed his mind about defaulting on the national debt. But I don’t find this surprising, nor should anyone who has been reading this blog.
During the Summer recess, Representative Yoho told a group of his constituents that defaulting on the national debt would actually be a good thing and that doing so would improve our credit rating. And he not only said that with a straight face; he actually believes it.
Yoho fancies himself as a crusader in the fight to stop that darn OBummer and his socialist cadre, and he’s armed with non-facts and a congressional vote.
The Reign of Morons is here. Ted Yoho never held public office before he was elected to replace a 23-year veteran by the drooling imbeciles who attend his town halls and raise their hands when asked if America is headed for socialism.
What little knowledge of civics and public policy Yoho actually has he learned from reading the back of a Crackerjack box, while the people who elected him received their education from Fox News University.
