Steve Lonegan lamented his demise at the hands of the GOP Government Shutdown today, saying that there is ‘no doubt in his mind or in the minds of any of his campaign staff that the shutdown cost him the election.’
Lonegan says he “wouldn’t have run for Senate” if he knew that the shutdown was going to happen or that it would be handled so badly.
If you’ve been following along, you should know how preposterous that is.
Here’s what he said about the government shutdown before the election.
At 0:30
LONEGAN: If it takes some government shut down to put America back on track, let’s do it, bring it on, bring it on. You’ll have your police, you’ll have your schools, you’ll have your libraries because local government is the government that matters.
Bring it on!
What happened to that fight; that passion; that will to defeat Obummer at any cost?
Oh. He lost.
The best part was when Lonegan claimed that his victory would compel President Obama to cave on the shutdown.
Swing and a miss.
