Bill Maher already lost me when he joked that bombing Gaza is a bit like slapping a crazy woman (domestic violence isn’t funny), but this foolish endorsement of Rand Paul seals the deal.
“Rand Paul is an interesting candidate to me. Rand Paul could possibly get my vote,” the 58-year-old comedy veteran said of the Kentucky senator.
Maher commented on the son of former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas): “As I always used to say about his father, I love half of him. I love the half of him that has the guts to say we should end the American empire, pull the troops home, stop getting involved in every foreign entanglement… He’s way less of a hawk than Hillary, and that appeals to me a lot because I’m not crazy about how warlike she is.”
To be fair, it’s not necessarily easy to keep up with Rand’s positions as they change on a day to day basis, but Rand is very good at fooling gullible bros — that would be Maher — into thinking that he is something which he’s not.
You don’t have to take it from me, you can read an op-ed written by Rand placing himself to the right of Hillary and President Obama, claiming that he would have called Congress back from recess to authorize a strike against targets in Syria.
He says he would have “acted more decisively.”
Rand went a step further the following day and mocked Hillary for being more concerned about climate change than terrorism.
“I don’t think we really want a commander-in-chief who is battling climate change instead of terrorism.”
He went on to question “whether she has the wisdom to lead the country — which I think it’s obvious that she doesn’t.”
If Rand himself says he is a bigger hawk than Hillary, who am I to argue?
To say that Rand could get your vote is to say that your’re okay with his socially conservative views including his advocacy for a ban on all abortion.
