Mike Huckabee is probably running for president again and, apparently, his platform will be decidedly anti-Beyonce.
Huckabee spoke to People Magazine and implied that the Obamas are bad parents because their daughters are allowed to listen to Beyonce.
While promoting his new book, Huckabee told People magazine, “I don’t understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything – how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school … and yet they don’t see anything that might not be suitable” in the lyrics and a Beyoncé choreography “best left for the privacy of her bedroom.”
I was unaware that listening to Beyonce will negate the benefits of a healthy diet and quality education. How does that work, exactly?
I feel like someone probably made the same argument against listening to KISS in the 1970s except, in this case, I have a hunch that Huckabee’s real concern is that the first daughters are listening to the voice of an independent and influential black woman who isn’t afraid to declare her feminism.
There must be few things more terrifying to a southern, white, bible-thumping misogynist and occasional birther.
