According to Doctor Ben Carson, we won't be able to defeat ISIS if we continue to fight with one hand tied behind our back.
If we're going to get serious about defeating the Islamic State, the troops that Carson would personally deploy to the region as president (Ha!) need to know that they can do whatever they want to do or feel is necessary without fear of prosecution.
CARSON: Our military needs to know that they’re not gonna be prosecuted when they come back, because somebody has, said “You did something that was politically incorrect.” There is no such thing as a politically correct war. We need to grow up, we need to mature. If you’re gonna have rules for war, you should just have a rule that says no war. Other than that, we have to win. Our life depends on it.
Like the man says, laws against rape, torture, and the use of indiscriminate munitions like cluster bombs, chemical weapons or land mines are just the PC Police run amok. As Carson says, if we want to defeat ISIS we have to become ISIS; an organization known for torture, sex slavery, child murder, rape, using mentally disabled children as suicide bombers, burning prisoners alive, mass beheadings and -gasp!- Shariah Law.
Ben Carson has said many terrible things during his relatively short time in the spotlight, but this may be the most disgusting thing he has said. It's also an automatic disqualifier from ever becoming the commander in chief of the military.
Carson's declaration that America and the West cannot survive this conflict with barbarians without becoming barbarians is an ideological declaration of surrender. His belief in not just western ideals but civilized humanity is clearly shaky at best.
This shouldn't necessarily come as a shock. It wasn't very long ago when Carson favorably compared American revolutionaries to ISIS and said we need to be more like them.
CARSON: A bunch of rag-tag militiamen defeated the most powerful and professional military force on the planet. Why? Because they believed in what they were doing. They were willing to die for what they believed in. Fast forward to today. What do we have? You’ve got ISIS. They’ve got the wrong philosophy, but they’re willing to die for it while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness. We have to change that.
While his most recent comments aren't necessarily a surprise, his favorable comparison between our founding fathers and ISIS was slightly unexpected given that he protested Advanced Placement U.S. History curriculum because it will make high school students want to join ISIS.
