The House GOP's first hearing prompted by the fraudulent anti-Planned Parenthood videos will take place today but it won't actually feature any Planned Parenthood staff or officials because this is only loosely related to the organization.
This is about abortion and a woman's right to choose. The Planned Parenthood videos are just the latest excuse to litigate the issue for the umpteenth time.
The hearing by the House Judiciary Committee will focus on expert testimony, including the general counsel for the anti-abortion group National Right to Life and the director of Yale Law School’s Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice.
The committee will also hear from two "abortion survivors" who lived through their mothers' attempts to terminate their pregnancies. But no officials from Planned Parenthood were invited, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
It was already clear this investigation is not a search for the truth. The House Judiciary Committee unveiled this latest inquisition last week which will go by the name of "Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining the Horrific Abortion Practices at the Nation's Largest Abortion Provider."
The only good news I can think of is the Republicans have virtually no chance of successfully defunding the organization today, tomorrow, or next year, but in the meantime they will waste more time and taxpayer money crawling up their own asses in search of confirmation bias.
