Speaker of the House John Boehner warned President Obama today that if he acts alone on immigration, the Republican-controlled Congress won’t pass immigration reform.
Speaking in public for the first time since the GOP’s midterm election triumph, Boehner acknowledged that immigration reform has become a “political football,” but said, “It’s just time to deal with it.”
Still, if Obama acts on his own, “there will be no chance for immigration reform moving in this Congress,” he said.
Because Congress was clearly on the cusp of taking decisive action until Obummer ruined it for everybody.
I jest but I can easily see that becoming beltway wisdom.
The good news is the president isn’t perturbed by the notion of Congress continuing to not do something they haven’t been doing. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said today that President Obama will take action.
