As I'm sure you've read by now, Jim DeMint has taken the radical, unprecedented step of blocking all Senate legislation that he doesn't personally approve. One senator from South Carolina (Crazy Capital of the World) is abusing an obscure parliamentary maneuver to, in effect, shut down the Senate.
Now tell me again how "both sides" are to blame for the insanity in politics. As near as I can tell, no one in the Democratic Party ever engaged in this kind of stunt during the Bush years. They could have, of course, but they didn't. They approached legislation like grown-ups and attempted to negotiate Democratic agenda items into the bills, or they would try to blunt the conservative sting of Bush Republican legislation. Partly because the Democrats understand compromise, and partly because the press would have eviscerated them for shutting down the Senate.
Anyone who continues the fetishistic charade of "both sides" given this DeMint stunt needs to seriously unfuck their analysis. Because "both sides" is a bullshit meme that bears no relationship to reality.
