Congressional Democrats and a small number of Republicans may be close to convincing Trump to sign a bipartisan bill to make modest changes to Obamacare to ensure that the individual market remains stable.
According to Politico, Trump was delighted during a recent meeting to consider the proposal after Democrats told him he could call it whatever he wants.
Upon hearing it had bipartisan support, the president had one question: “Can I call it ‘repeal and replace’?”
“You can call it whatever you want, Mr. President,” a Democratic lawmaker told Trump, eliciting laughter throughout the room.
The president loved that response.
From a certain point of view, I suppose this wouldn't necessary be a dramatic shift in behavior regarding health care proposals.
Trump and the GOP have been saying "repeal and replace" for nearly a decade but none of their proposals would actually replace the law. They've already been calling it 'whatever they want.'
Up has always been down. We've always been at war with Obamacare.
There's no parody you can write that is dumber than the actual Trump White House.
