Esteemed doctor Ben Carson told NBC that he's in favor of a total ban on abortion with no exceptions, but he didn't stop there.
Carson justified his absolutism by comparing pregnant women to slave-owners.
“During slavery — and I know that’s one of those words you’re not supposed to say, but I’m saying it — during slavery, a lot of the slave owners thought that they had the right to do whatever they wanted to the slave,” Carson said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. [...]
“In the ideal situation, the mother should not believe that the baby is her enemy and should not be looking to terminate the baby,” he said.
Just in case it wasn't clear -- in Carson's analogy, the unborn child is the slave.
I doubt many women who've had abortions would tell you they viewed their unborn fetus or zygote as their sworn "enemy" but in any event that is immaterial to a woman's legal right to choose. They can view it however they want.
Beyond personal viewpoints there are unfortunate and uncomfortable medical circumstances that may necessitate an abortion but those are exceptions Doctor Ben Carson would not be willing to make.
Fetuses aren't Ben Carson's enemies so much as women are.
