In other news, the Smithsonian Institute has issued its first ever official statement on the causes of climate change, establishing that it is tied to “human activities.”
With special emphasis on the Smithsonian’s 160-year history and tradition of collection, research and global monitoring, the statement delivers a bold assessment: “Scientific evidence has demonstrated that the global climate is warming as a result of increasing levels of atmospheric greenhouse gases generated by human activities.”
Meanwhile, the state of Alabama is now providing lawyers for fetuses under a new law that recently went into effect, and that’s only part of the shit sandwich.
The state is allowed to appoint a lawyer for their fetus and call witnesses to testify about the teenager’s character. [...]
[The] state is allowed to call teachers, parents, neighbors, boyfriends, or peers to testify against the teenage girl, even if that means disclosing her pregnancy to people in her life who didn’t previously know about it.
I wonder how much money will be spent on fetus lawyers that could be spent elsewhere. Alabama is not exactly flush with cash. I’m sure that’s Obama’s fault, though.
