This hasn't received nearly as much attention as it should have.
For some time now, one of the most hands-on Democratic senators involved in the healthcare reform effort has been Kent Conrad.
Here's the thing.
He's alarmingly misinformed about major aspects of healthcare coverage in other countries, and he's been using this misinformation as public justification for his stupid co-ops (which are in the Senate bill, by the way).
Frankly, it's impressive that healthcare reform has reached this stage considering the nincompoopery we've witnessed along the way. And I hate to say it, but when this thing is finally signed by the president, our work has only just begun. From there, there needs to be an ongoing effort to fill the gaps and make the law more robust.
