House Oversight Chairman Darrell "Witch Hunt" Issa has filed a civil lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder over the president's invocation of executive privilege.
The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), filed a civil lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder Monday for what Issa alleges was Holder’s failure to cooperate with a congressional subpoena. [...]
Issa tweeted the news on Sunday night, referring to the civil lawsuit as “charges” against Holder. The lawsuit, filed in D.C. federal court midday Monday, contends that the Justice Department’s view of executive privilege goes too far.
The important distinction is that this is a civil lawsuit, not a criminal lawsuit.
A criminal lawsuit would have to be filed by the district attorney of D.C., and after the president declared executive privilege, the D.C. attorney's and the Justice Department's hands were tied.
Issa wouldn't dare try to file a civil lawsuit against the president, so Eric Holder is the next best black man.
